Welcome to Me Reviews

I'm not sure who I'm more Mad at: Me, for sitting thru the Whole Thing- OR, All the Good Actors, for agreeing to participate in the movie... Even after what the Main Character does at the end, as beautiful as it was, unfortunately did not redeem the ridiculousness of this film.

This movie is brilliant. A hidden gem of a comedic masterpiece. The audience score on this is out to lunch. If you have half a brain you will love this movie.

It's a very authentic portrayal of a mental health struggle that manages to be funny at the same time. A strong commentary on our culture's relationship to mental health struggles and our willingness to be entertained/cheer on someone's downward spiral.

An aimless film with nothing to say.

Amazing performance high art

The ending is far too neat and tidy for a comedy that's determined to make it's audience as uncomfortable as humanly possible, but it's still worth seeing for Wiig's excellent work.

For a variety of reasons, watching a movie that focuses its sights on mental illness is never an easy thing to do. Such is the case with Welcome to Me, the story of Alice Klieg (Kristen Wiig), a bi-polar woman who wins $86 million in a state lottery. Obsessed with Oprah Winfrey, she uses her winnings to fund her own television show, where the subject, day in and day out, is Alice Krieg. Wiig gives what may be her finest (and certainly her most quirky) performance as the distressed protagonist, a woman obsessed with her own fame while ignoring the needs of those around her. Despite the interesting premise, things do tend to become predictable, and it is only a matter of time before you wind up exactly where you expected to be when the credits begin to roll.

You could say this is a lot of laughs at the expense of those with mental health issues OR you can say those with mental health issues are really ALL OF US, just some have issues that are far less accepted by others. I find most people cannot tolerate those they see as very different than themselves, without any realizing how weird they appear to other people that haven't taken any time to know them and accept their oddities. People who don't celebrate our differences may have difficulty understanding or appreciating this film. They may not like it and just see the bad world taking advantage of "sick people", which does happen here and very much so in the real world. However in this film, the "sick person" gets the last laugh and appears almost saner than many. It's also based on the real life story of this woman. I have no idea how true to life the script was but I found it funny, thoughtful and very touching. Great acting ensemble and Kristen Wiig is wonderful in the lead.

I chuckled and I felt, but I wanted more Kristen Wiig. Most of the parts where Wiig isn't on screen feel like they could have been cut out without affecting the story.

Sad state of the mental health in the USA and lack of treatment or not getting treatment. A dark comedy when a bi-polar wins the lottery how she just blows the money. It does have its moment of glory at the end.

This is a very slow yet captivating movie. I really love Kristen Wiig and I feel like this movie showcased her talents for awkward physical and emotional comedy so well. I have met people like the character she’s portraying and she pulls off all the little quirks and minor details expertly. James Marsden and the kid from American Beauty are great in it, too!

Great cast, but, I just didn't enjoy this one as was too bizarre and off the wall for me, seemed like the story-line was how to be selfish and weird with lots of money.

Alice Klieg (Kristen Wiig), a mentally ill single woman living on disability benefits, and fan of Oprah Winfrey, wins the California Stack Sweepstakes lottery jackpot of $86 million. She appears on the local 온라인카지노추천 news celebrating her win, but is upset when the speech she had prepared is abruptly cut off after she mentions using masturbation as a sedative. She discontinues her medication, against the advice of her psychiatrist, Daryl Moffat (Tim Robbins), and moves into a casino hotel with her best friend Gina Selway (Linda Cardellini). During a vitamin supplement infomercial presented by Gabe Ruskin (Wes Bentley), Alice, who is in the studio audience, responds to his request for a volunteer, hijacks the broadcast and recites her speech once again (though is again cut off by the director). Gabe's brother Rich (James Marsden), the co-owner and manager of the studio, introduces himself and arranges a meeting to discuss Alice's idea for a 온라인카지노추천 show, at which Alice writes a check for $15 million to pay for 100 live-broadcast two-hour episodes of a 'vanity' show about herself entitled Welcome to Me... Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus reads, "A transfixing central performance by Kristen Wiig holds Welcome to Me together and compensates for its uneven stretches." In his New York Times review, A.O. Scott writes that "By turns touching, amusing and genuinely disturbing, "Welcome To Me" defies expectations and easy categorization, forgoing obvious laughs and cheap emotional payoffs in favor of something much odder and more interesting." I do like Kristen Wiig, but this unsympathetic and mentally unstable character she is playing here, was just making me gawking as the people in the film does due to her selfish antics and rude behaviour. Yes, I agree it´s a clear message about the mental illness we have in our society and how badly these people feel, but due to the storyline I think that gets lost a bit. "Welcome To Me" is pointing at "The King of Comedy", but yet not reaching those heights and it made me feel a big distance to Alice Klieg as everything became odder and more disturbing during the running time. I simply had issues with Alice and Wiig´s performance.

A hilarious but also chilling portrait, and easily Kristen Wiig's best performance.

Masterpiece. If you didn't like it it's because it's not for you, or you just didn't get it.

Plot is uneven, but the film is okay. Kristen Wiig is good

"Welcome To Me" é um dos filmes mais incomuns de sempre, porém, este drama/comédia traz consigo uma premissa única e um humor bizarro. A atuação de Kristen Wiig é fantástica.

The movie was ok, but failed to show borderline traits. It was more narcissistic and/or histrionic personality disorder, and not borderline. This is false information into a world already fumbling with the idea of mental illness.

Not good enough to be good. Not bad enough to be bad.

more than a welcome.. Welcome To Me The premise is promising and has a potential to reach for something more colossal than it even attempts to, in here which may feel inadequate in the end. Despite of having, such a wider range the writer, narrows its priorities down to something simple and sensible which helps connect easily with the viewers. Eliot Lawrence has done a decent work on writing the script which is engaging for the most of the time and not pretentious or chalky which it could have been easily considering the premise. Shira Piven; the director, is in her A game as she executes the script aptly and offers palpable environment to the tone which it stays true to, throughout the course of it. Kirsten Wiig carries it off all on her shoulder proving once again, her amazing acting skills even though isn't supported to that extent by her supporting cast like James Marsden, Wes Bentley and Linda Cardellini. It is short on technical aspects like sound department and editing. Welcome To Me is more than a welcome to its creativity and the energy that it offers from the first frame till the curtain drops; something that can feed off the audience for its almost 90 minutes.
