Wrath of Man Reviews
Fine form with some old-fashioned shoot-’em-up fun.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Sep 19, 2024
For all its flip-flops, there's never anything engaging or surprising. Very perfunctory.
| Dec 11, 2021
A leaden, blood-spattered and painfully predictable trudge towards an anticlimax that is as joyless as it is expected.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Dec 10, 2021
Rough at the edges and with a propensity for cartoonish violence, this is an action caper hewn in the image of its star.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 9, 2021
Guy Ritchie delivers a nice surprise: an LA neo-noir with high-voltage action and an ice-cube-cool Statham. If it gets a bit tangled up in its time-hopping reveals, it's largely an enjoyable, rattlesnake-mean thriller.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 9, 2021
Nothing in Wrath of Man suggests that Ritchie is having fun anymore-not with the crime genre, and not with filmmaking.
| May 14, 2021
There is menace, a dull darkness and stillness, as if he's watched "Heat" too many times.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | May 13, 2021
Unsurprisingly, this stripped-down soundtrack serves as the perfect counterpoint for Ritchie's direction, adding an element of the funereal to even the most visceral action sequence.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | May 13, 2021
It hits every one of those genres nice and hard, and it pops. It's going to go at number two among my [favorite] Guy Ritchie films.
| May 13, 2021
It's just a dirty piece of fun, and I enjoyed it!
| May 13, 2021
Taken on its terms, the movie isn't terrible strictly as mindless escapism. But beyond the most basic, visceral thrills, Wrath of Man's bitter fruit yields a slim harvest.

Wrath of Man: a Jason Statham movie directed by Guy Ritchie. Check. A revenge thriller wearing the clothes of a heist thriller: a savory treat-within-a-treat, like a bacon-wrapped sausage. Check, check.
| Original Score: 3/5 | May 10, 2021
Gritting his teeth, the antihero action star boldly goes where other over-50s like Liam Neeson have gone before, riding the vengeance train in a violent, stunt-filled action thriller that takes no prisoners.
| Original Score: 3/5 | May 10, 2021
Things get so convoluted if you told me the cast and crew were making up new plot elements as shooting went along I'd be tempted to believe it.
| Original Score: 2/4 | May 8, 2021
Wrath of Man is all body count, and its self-seriousness is exhausting. This isn't Ritchie's Heat; it's his The Tax Collector.
| May 8, 2021
"Wrath of Man" is a Guy Ritchie film that even his detractors might like.
| May 7, 2021
Ritchie is either off his game a tad, or his decision to play things down is a mistake. Nothing is as clever as it could be.
| May 7, 2021
The writing in Wrath of Man isn't just bad. It's your-co-worker-signed-up-for-a-weekend-drama-workshop bad.
| May 7, 2021
"Wrath" delivers what Statham and Ritchie's bloodthirstier fans are probably looking for, but it seems unlikely to win either of them new ones.
| Original Score: 2/4 | May 7, 2021
Wrath is just another loose bag of lizard-brain thrills and wood-block dialogue: too ugly to be camp, too grimly familiar to feel new.
