But if you want cinema that challenges and digs into your soul, catch a Cold War.” – Urban Cinefile Dec 10, 2018 Full Review The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018) 38% “Apart from a couple of minor continuity fibs, the filmmakers do a solid job of emulating a Hollywood thriller, down to the scrambled hand held camera work - which sometimes fails to provide clear information.” – Urban Cinefile Nov 18, 2018 Full Review The Old Man & the Gun (2018) 93% “The film is entertaining and engaging, with plenty of character to be involved with, not to mention gentlemanly 'old world' bank robbing.” – Urban Cinefile Nov 18, 2018 Full Review Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) 60% “Whether you are or were a Queen fan, Bohemian Rhapsody stands alone as a terrific film, made the more moving and engaging by the truth of its story, complete with its pathos, melancholy, triumph and death.” – Urban Cinefile Nov 11, 2018 Full Review Van Helsing (2004) 24% “Van Helsing is the epitome of an escapist movie - the kind that used to be shown on Saturday afternoon. But now, thanks to massive budgets and big-name stars, Saturday comes seven days a week.” – Urban Cinefile Nov 1, 2018 Full Review X-Men (2000) 82% “Indeed, even Hugh Jackman was not cast in this role for his neon-lit global fame among the youth... although he earns a place in the starry firmament of cinema with this well judged performance.” – Urban Cinefile Oct 30, 2018 Full Review Moulin Rouge (2001) 75% “Moulin Rouge is a seductive and original film, a turbocharged tribute to romanticism.” – Urban Cinefile Oct 29, 2018 Full Review A Star Is Born (2018) 90% “Lady Gaga is a natural; Ally is talented and cursed with the insecurity that is talent's twin. Her face glows with natural beauty, not manufactured and not afraid of the camera's intrusions. There is chemistry there ...” – Urban Cinefile Oct 12, 2018 Full Review Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) 75% “You're going to remember this film. And you're going to remember Darlene (Cynthia Erivo), the black singer whose voice is as good as her story. And young Miles (Lewis Pullman), the motel gofer whose innocuous presence hides a secret or 23.” – Urban Cinefile Oct 10, 2018 Full Review First Man (2018) 87% “For those familiar with the history of both the politics and the space program, it is a neat reminder, and highly relevant in an age which takes it for granted that man can make a film the credible replicates the moon landing...” – Urban Cinefile Sep 24, 2018 Full Review Searching (2018) 92% “This is not just a high concept movie, it is a drama well served by a script that is designed to fit the vehicle and vice versa.” – Urban Cinefile Sep 8, 2018 Full Review BlacKkKlansman (2018) 96% “Spike Lee is a political activist and 'jive artist' of note so you would not be surprised that Blackkklansman is not just strong cinema but strong on propaganda, too.” – Urban Cinefile Sep 5, 2018 Full Review Crazy Rich Asians (2018) 91% “It starts all flim-flam and multi coloured visuals, makes you smile and laugh until you're hooked and then it brings up the heavy guns of drama: broken loyalties, broken families, broken promises and broken hearts.” – Urban Cinefile Aug 20, 2018 Full Review
