The Thing with Feathers (2025) 53% 7/10 “Anyone who has had an experience with loss will most likely deeply resonate with The Thing with Feathers; they’re up for a harrowing and distressing, yet somewhat cathartic viewing.” – Collider Feb 14, 2025 Full Review Ricky (2025) 89% 7/10 “With a powerhouse ensemble leading viewers through their raw, tender story, it’s more than a necessary watch that should aid in opening minds and prompting conversation.” – Collider Feb 14, 2025 Full Review Omaha (2025) 88% 8/10 “Omaha is a raw and rocky road of a film, but an important one at that. It’s a tale of humanity, of grief, desperation, and humankind—one that asks its audience to put down judgment and try and empathize with the characters on screen.” – Collider Feb 12, 2025 Full Review The Ballad of Wallis Island (2025) 97% 8/10 “Distancing itself from clichés in the name of honesty and earnestness, the charming British dramedy showcases the whole gamut of human relationships but takes tender care to highlight the good. ” – Collider Feb 6, 2025 Full Review The Legend of Ochi (2025) 80% 8/10 “though some may yearn for a bit more concrete worldbuilding and further character development, the nostalgic aspects and technicals come together to create a delightful fantasy adventure for all ages. ” – Collider Jan 29, 2025 Full Review Heretic (2024) 91% 4/5 “With some biblically accurate scares and bone-chilling tension, and the addition of one wickedly charming Hugh Grant, Heretic is the kind of idiosyncratic thriller/horror film that cannot be replicated.” – Discussing Film Oct 29, 2024 Full Review Saturday Night (2024) 78% 3.5/5 “Jason Reitman's Saturday Night is full of hilarious moments, but doesn't really come together as an ode to the original cast and creators of SNL.” – Discussing Film Sep 28, 2024 Full Review The Wild Robot (2024) 96% 4/5 “Dreamworks Animation is continuing its current hot streak with this instant classic, as The Wild Robot is undoubtedly one of the best animated films of 2024. Make sure to bring tissues.” – Discussing Film Sep 24, 2024 Full Review Went Up the Hill (2024) 88% 6/10 “In the end, Samuel Van Grinsven’s ambient and meandering ghost story is undoubtedly a haunting concept with committed performances and effective elements, but the film just can’t help but overstay its welcome.” – Collider Sep 23, 2024 Full Review Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight (2024) 6/10 “ Davidtz does well enough with her first feature, and the story, along with Venter’s incredible performance, is more than enough to pique the audience’s interest enough to perhaps pick up the memoir.” – Collider Sep 23, 2024 Full Review When The Light Breaks (2024) 96% 9/10 “When the Light Breaks is the poignant and eerie reflection of a day that can be so personal, yet also so universally understood. Rúnarsson takes his dreamlike vignette of such a specific human experience and creates something so ubiquitous.” – Collider Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Dead Talents Society (2024) 94% 8/10 “Themes of finding oneself, navigating loss and change as well as the importance of found family can be discovered at its core. The film is indeed reminiscent of other satirical comedy horror flicks of times past, but it still has its own unique soul.” – Collider Sep 16, 2024 Full Review My Sunshine (2024) 92% 7/10 “Each static shot framing a pastel snow-covered village or the grass of a spring field undulating in the breeze is a cathartic experience — immersive and calming.” – Next Best Picture May 28, 2024 Full Review The Shrouds (2024) 74% 5/10 “The Shrouds is a cold and stiff film itself, akin to that of a corpse, and not in a complimentary fashion. It’s detached enough to feel unattainable and uninviting.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community May 27, 2024 Full Review The Substance (2024) 89% 8/10 “With pedal-to-the-metal performances from all, horrifyingly creative gore, goo, and everything in between, and a narrative and thematically unique and fresh fable, The Substance is a knockout.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community May 27, 2024 Full Review Megalopolis (2024) 45% 5/10 “Megalopolis is a film that has so much to say and struggles so profoundly in its attempt to say it all, it ultimately crumbles under the weight of its own ambition. But this isn’t to say there is nothing to be taken away from this gutsy tale.” – But Why Tho? A Geek Community May 23, 2024 Full Review Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024) 90% A “This prequel to Fury Road holds its own as a satisfying fable of sorts that is so outlandish in its execution and originality. It’s a downright entrancing 148 minutes of pure, gnarly glee.” – Filmotomy May 23, 2024 Full Review The Girl With the Needle (2024) 92% 8/10 “The film cleverly first beckons the audience in close, only to then hold the viewer accountable for witnessing more than a few shocking, graphic scenes and situations, asking them to grapple with the past to better understand their present.” – Next Best Picture May 17, 2024 Full Review My Old Ass (2024) 90% 4.5/5 “A poignant depiction of how short of a flicker adolescence lasts, and how fast adulthood eventually catches up to us all... My Old Ass is a real winner bolstered by true originality and undeniable heart. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ” – Discussing Film Jan 27, 2024 Full Review Smugglers (2023) 88% 8/10 ““Smugglers” is a refreshing combination of classic crime, heist, and adventure film tropes with a mix of 1970s influences and modern themes.” – Next Best Picture Sep 22, 2023 Full Review Quiz Lady (2023) 82% 8/10 “The performances throughout "Quiz Lady" are an absolute treat, as Awkwafina and Sandra Oh put their all into the hilarious, quirky sister characters who are the complete antithesis of one another.” – Next Best Picture Sep 19, 2023 Full Review Concrete Utopia (2023) 100% 8/10 ““Concrete Utopia” is a gripping, disturbing, and powerful representation of the worst of society, yet equally showcasing the best qualities in humans and how hope, community, and decency will always exist through the dust and devastation.” – Next Best Picture Sep 16, 2023 Full Review Woman of the Hour (2023) 91% 4.5/5 “Through multi-faceted performances, excellent writing, and an atmosphere of great tension, Kendrick surpasses expectations with her excellent directorial debut, bringing to screen awareness of ways women are forced to navigate daily life alongside men. ” – Discussing Film Sep 12, 2023 Full Review The Convert (2023) 83% 6/10 ““The Convert” is ultimately a solid historical action and drama flick that will do its job just fine. What it lacks in story or effectiveness, it more or less makes up in some grounded performances and mesmerizing imagery of 19th-century New Zealand.” – Next Best Picture Sep 12, 2023 Full Review North Star (2023) 28% 3/10 ““North Star” had some solid potential to be a witty wedding comedy, complete with bridesmaids’ shenanigans and a fun, star-studded ensemble. Instead, it’s quite muddled with poor writing and brimming with mundane and forgettable melodrama. ” – Next Best Picture Sep 11, 2023 Full Review
