Brigid Presecky

Tomatometer-approved critic
Biography:

After working at Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Domestic Publicity, I am currently the Vice President and Managing Editor of FF2 Media, an online media company of all-female film critics. Located in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and London, I oversee our team of 30 people who identify as women as they write film reviews, attend film festivals and conduct interviews with prominent filmmakers in the entertainment industry. Amplifying the voices of female critics began in the fall of 2008 as I worked as a theater critic at Goodman Theatre's Cindy Bandle Young Critics program and Goodman Theatre's Youth Arts Council. As a Chicagoan, photographer and middle child (a good or bad list, depending on how you look at it), I am surrounded by people of every age range, color, religion and political belief. They are my greatest teachers who have inspired me, who have saturated the pages of my screenplays and who are the consistent voices in my head, telling me to keep going.

I Want You Back (2022) 87% “Day and Slate are center stage, finally. The shift is welcome after years of both actors being pigeonholed into zany, wise-cracking supporting roles. ” – Impressionist Media Feb 11, 2022 Full Review The Tender Bar (2021) 51% “A nostalgic, coming-of-age story that's simple in premise and complex in character.” – Impressionist Media Dec 10, 2021 Full Review Being the Ricardos (2021) 68% “Like Lucille Ball, Aaron Sorkin is a master storyteller. He uses his magic, once again, for Being the Ricardos, an intimate look at a woman, marriage and high-pressure job.” – Impressionist Media Dec 10, 2021 Full Review Lady of the Manor (2021) 23% “If you take the premise too seriously, then you're not in on the joke. The Long Brothers' film is filled with farts, funny faces and complete mockery of humanity's douchiest.” – Impressionist Media Sep 26, 2021 Full Review Free Guy (2021) 80% “As meaningful as it is pure fun. In a year when it feels like there's an unstoppable bug in our game, Guy brings a sense of comfort: that we'll get out of this loop one day.” – Impressionist Media Aug 13, 2021 Full Review Jungle Cruise (2021) 62% “Full of color, puns, a roaring hippopotamus and the backside of water. Between the script and the actors, it delivers an "I can't stop myself from laughing" kind of laugh.” – Impressionist Media Jul 30, 2021 Full Review Joe Bell (2020) 39% “Joe Bell is worth watching for the cast. Nuanced, vulnerable performances from Connie Britton and Gary Sinise. A subtle, career-best for Mark Wahlberg.” – Impressionist Media Jul 22, 2021 Full Review The Boss Baby: Family Business (2021) 46% “Obvious ad-libbing from the cast is a highlight. It's joyous and silly and after a long, difficult year for children - "silly" is something they truly deserve.” – Impressionist Media Jun 30, 2021 Full Review Nomadland (2020) 93% “Chloe Zhao's Nomadland is a reminder that we can change at any age, meet new people along the way and know that whoever we're missing, we'll see down the road.” – Impressionist Media Feb 26, 2021 Full Review Supernova (2020) 89% “Harry Macqueen's poignant, heartbreaking drama Supernova is a love story, albeit a peek into the final chapter of one.” – Impressionist Media Jan 27, 2021 Full Review Modern Persuasion (2020) 53% “What sets Modern Persuasion apart is the laugh-out-loud humor consistently evident in the script and executed by an endearing cast.” – Impressionist Media Dec 18, 2020 Full Review Godmothered (2020) 68% “Godmothered is a gift. Not only is it entertaining for children, but for anyone thinking their Happily Ever After has passed them by. Sweet movie, even sweeter message.” – Impressionist Media Dec 2, 2020 Full Review Hillbilly Elegy (2020) 24% “Vanessa Taylor's Hillbilly Elegy adaptation is a family story, not a political statement, showing the effort it takes to break cycles of unhealthy familial behavior.” – Impressionist Media Nov 15, 2020 Full Review Blackbird (2019) 64% “Blackbird ebbs and flows from awkward to painful to heartbreaking. As life does. Despite melodrama, it puts a human face on the political issue of dying with dignity.” – Impressionist Media Sep 18, 2020 Full Review H Is for Happiness (2019) 81% “With a charming blend of realistic problems and whimsical preteen fantasy, the Australian film uses a child's story to send a valuable message for viewers of all ages.” – Impressionist Media Sep 17, 2020 Full Review The Grizzlies (2018) 87% “From excellent Emmy-winning writers Moira Walley-Beckett and Graham Yost comes The Grizzlies, a true sports story that is as heartbreaking as it is inspiring.” – Impressionist Media Sep 14, 2020 Full Review The Way I See It (2020) 85% “Chief White House Photographer Pete Souza and the makers of The Way I See It kindly remind us what decency looked like not so long ago.” – Impressionist Media Sep 10, 2020 Full Review The Broken Hearts Gallery (2020) 80% “Geraldine Viswanathan is the leading lady we've been waiting for. Natalie Krinsky's film is both self-aware and sincere; a warm welcome back to the movies.” – Impressionist Media Sep 9, 2020 Full Review Born to Play (2020) 100% “Lieberman's Born to Play highlights role models for anyone who feels different. There is a place for you, there is a space for you, you just have to find your team.” – FF2 Media Jul 24, 2020 Full Review Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020) 99% “Writer/director Eliza Hittman picked two talents (Sidney Flanigan, Talia Ryder) who carry off a pointed message with care, subtlety and, most importantly, empathy.” – FF2 Media Mar 5, 2020 Full Review The Social Ones (2019) “The Social Ones is a genuinely funny commentary on how we've accepted the online way of life & the pure absurdity at the heart of a multimillion dollar industry.” – FF2 Media Feb 27, 2020 Full Review Saint Frances (2019) 99% “While the pro-choice angle is divisive, the character of Bridget is more than the decisions she makes. It's poignant; exemplifying O'Sullivan's talent as writer and performer.” – FF2 Media Feb 26, 2020 Full Review Top End Wedding (2019) 89% “A sweet story about love in all its forms - for marriage, parenthood, heritage, and how far we're willing to go to discover ourselves.” – FF2 Media Feb 18, 2020 Full Review Ordinary Love (2019) 93% “Although overly bleak at times, Ordinary Love is a showcase for Neeson and Manville. Navigating a cancer diagnosis, the married couple finds beauty in hellish places.” – FF2 Media Feb 13, 2020 Full Review The Lodge (2019) 75% “Father-of-the-year leaves his kids in the middle of nowhere with a possessed stranger? Even with solid performances from Keough and Martell, The Lodge is lackluster.” – FF2 Media Feb 12, 2020 Full Review
