Neighborhood Watch (2025) 61% 6/10 “The whole may be less than the sum of its parts, but it all adds up to a worthy enough venture to examine.” – Next Best Picture Apr 23, 2025 Full Review Disney's Snow White (2025) 40% 4/10 “Ultimately, it’s hard not to read this as another cynical cash grab that does little to transform the source material in a substantive enough manner to feel justified.” – Next Best Picture Mar 19, 2025 Full Review Brother Verses Brother (2025) 6/10 “Despite its faults, there’s an endearing core that’s as absorbing as the bustling city landscape filled with interesting stories. Maybe that doesn’t apply to every facet of this particular tale, but enough to find it slightly enthralling.” – Next Best Picture Mar 14, 2025 Full Review Ash (2025) 74% 6/10 “It isn’t until you’re just about ready to give up hope that some vibrancy enters the picture, and some thrilling entertainment is finally showcased. That, coupled with the crafts, makes this enterprise just barely worthy.” – Next Best Picture Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Bunny (2025) 4/10 “For all its attempts to manifest a turbulent environment, the results are tedious, aimless, and languid in its pacing.” – Next Best Picture Mar 11, 2025 Full Review Snow Leopard Sisters (2025) 5/10 “There’s far too much wading through tedious circumstances to become fully invested. The core issues are obviously important to platform, but the final results keep one at a distance. The goals are commendable without ever feeling deeply resonant.” – Next Best Picture Mar 8, 2025 Full Review Ghost Boy (2025) 7/10 “The story of Martin Pistorius challenges the audience to imagine what it's like to feel so removed from the outside world while constantly yearning to be a part of it, and it's a successful effort on that front.” – Next Best Picture Mar 8, 2025 Full Review Cactus Pears (2025) 100% 8/10 “The beauty at the heart of “Cactus Pears” is how it deftly traverses the thorny terrain that manifests during times of crisis. The death of loved ones will always be a time of heartache, as the whole left by them can feel like an insurmountable challenge.” – Next Best Picture Feb 25, 2025 Full Review Ex-Husbands (2023) 83% 6/10 “The biggest takeaway from watching “Ex-Husbands” is the surprise one gets. It’s a slow start and one that promises a much more mundane exercise but soon reveals a more complicated portrait.” – Next Best Picture Feb 21, 2025 Full Review Cleaner (2025) 50% 4/10 “It’s perfectly fine to watch a rather disposable action flick as long as its set pieces are entertaining. Unfortunately, the film fails on this front.” – Next Best Picture Feb 21, 2025 Full Review Inheritance (2025) 54% 6/10 “There isn’t much of “Inheritance” that will seem revolutionary by any metric. Its plot is conventional, and the characters lack any sense of real depth to make them distinct and provocative. Yet, there is something to this demonstration that is alluring.” – Next Best Picture Jan 22, 2025 Full Review One of Them Days (2025) 94% B- “This is one of those films that you pretty much know exactly what you are getting. The setup is familiar, the path does not deviate from what is expected and the ending leaves the audience with a traditionally good feeling.” – AwardsWatch Jan 15, 2025 Full Review From Ground Zero (2024) 98% 7/10 “ It is a moving examination of perseverance during unspeakably dark times.” – Next Best Picture Jan 9, 2025 Full Review Semmelweis (2023) 5/10 “What is showcased here is a middling work whose passion to shed light on an important moment in time did not translate to a more provocative viewing experience.” – Next Best Picture Dec 11, 2024 Full Review Nawi (2024) 7/10 “Yet, most of the story avoids these pitfalls, and the performances do a great deal to elevate the material. This piece may not have finished as strongly as it started, but it still supplies an intriguing exploration.” – Next Best Picture Dec 11, 2024 Full Review Sujo (2024) 93% 7/10 “So much of what makes “Sujo” an intriguing experience is how it weaves together a story that may have familiar elements on the surface but can mine a deep well of emotion through its execution. ” – Next Best Picture Nov 26, 2024 Full Review Saturn Return (2024) 86% 5/10 “Simply being a slightly different iteration of a tired genre is not enough to make an enthralling work. What is presented could have been more alluring had it been more interested in the individuals at the heart of this story.” – Next Best Picture Nov 25, 2024 Full Review Forrest Gump (1994) 75% 5/10 “When analyzing the ultimate endurance that “Forrest Gump” has left in the decades since it first came out, it’s obvious that approaching it with a more inquisitive perspective leaves it with a much shallower impact than it did upon its initial release.” – Next Best Picture Nov 7, 2024 Full Review The Line (2023) 80% 5/10 “Ultimately, the film may not have significant faults in its filmmaking, but the passable performances can’t save a story that treads water with its themes and doesn’t make a great effort to manifest a more interesting tale.” – Next Best Picture Oct 17, 2024 Full Review Things Will Be Different (2024) 81% 5/10 “The actors do a fine job for what they are given, but despite the potential for this material to become wholly riveting, it fails to be an utterly gripping experience.” – Next Best Picture Oct 4, 2024 Full Review White Bird (2023) 76% 7/10 “The storytelling plays broad but appropriate for the tone that is set, and the film becomes an absorbing portrait that succeeds despite the flaws, especially with the assist of Thomas Newman’s sweeping score.” – Next Best Picture Oct 4, 2024 Full Review Amber Alert (2024) 63% 5/10 “It does not go in the direction of utter schlock, but there’s a small sense that one wishes it could have had the conviction to include more personality.” – Next Best Picture Sep 27, 2024 Full Review The Seed of the Sacred Fig (2024) 97% 8/10 “What is presented is a daring piece of filmmaking that’s willing to strike back against harms being enacted within the political realm, no matter how dire those consequences may be for those who choose to fight back.” – Next Best Picture Aug 30, 2024 Full Review Strange Darling (2023) 96% 8/10 “The impressive craft and daring performances are further evidence of a unique and provocative work, making it one of the year’s most compelling ventures.” – Next Best Picture Aug 23, 2024 Full Review Alien: Romulus (2024) 80% 6/10 “There is a desperate yearning for a more potent environment that can legitimately build on suspense and tension, but there is still an efficient value in this disposable enterprise.” – Next Best Picture Aug 14, 2024 Full Review
