Mickey 17 (2025) 77% 4/5 “Mickey 17 may lack some of the political bite of his previous work, but it’s unquestionably tremendous fun: a big, strange spectacle that’s unlike most blockbuster cinema out there.” – Time Out Feb 15, 2025 Full Review Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) 70% 4/5 “It’s Harrison Ford’s final crack at playing Indiana Jones – and his fifth time out as the great adventuring archaeologist is much more than a fond farewell” – NME (New Musical Express) Feb 10, 2025 Full Review Nosferatu (2024) 84% 3/5 “Essential viewing for fans of gothic horror but must be recommended with caution for everyone else” – NME (New Musical Express) Dec 6, 2024 Full Review Heretic (2024) 91% 4/5 “Hugh Grant is never less than devilishly plausible and meticulous with every glance, grin and furrowed brow” – NME (New Musical Express) Nov 1, 2024 Full Review Venom: The Last Dance (2024) 40% 3/5 “It’s not big or clever but it is enjoyable” – NME (New Musical Express) Oct 25, 2024 Full Review Wolfs (2024) 67% 3/5 “Sometimes a cosy night in watching an easy film is the best remedy for dealing with the world’s woes, as it is in this case” – NME (New Musical Express) Sep 26, 2024 Full Review blur: To The End (2024) 87% 4/5 “Out front and backstage, this illuminating but not quite revelatory documentary shows a vulnerable, exhausted Blur and the band at their best. Interesting to casual fans, essential for devotees.” – Empire Magazine Jul 17, 2024 Full Review MaXXXine (2024) 72% 4/5 “With a rollicking soundtrack full of ’80s faves like Frankie Goes to Hollywood and ZZ Top, bold, fluorescent sets and Hollywood locations and outsized performances, Maxxxine wraps up West’s trilogy in killer style.” – Time Out Jul 11, 2024 Full Review Kinds of Kindness (2024) 71% 4/5 “Another humane, odd and highly accomplished Yorgos Lanthimos film, one that sees him returning to the tone of his earlier work after The Favourite and Poor Things. ” – Empire Magazine Jun 25, 2024 Full Review Megalopolis (2024) 45% 2/5 “The whole piece is so uneven, that at times it’s akin to watching a toddler being given free rein as an interior decorator” – NME (New Musical Express) May 20, 2024 Full Review Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024) 90% 5/5 “An extraordinary blockbuster juggernaut that in some sequences somehow excels even its predecessor” – NME (New Musical Express) May 16, 2024 Full Review Love Lies Bleeding (2024) 94% 4/5 “Love Lies Bleeding will draw comparisons to the Coen Brothers’ superb 1984 debut, Blood Simple. It has a similar blend of shocks, fascinating characters and hard-bitten dialogue, though visually it’s bolder and brighter” – NME (New Musical Express) Feb 22, 2024 Full Review Small Things Like These (2024) 94% 4/5 “Murphy again leads with aplomb and his casting alone will likely bring a bigger audience to this intelligent adaptation of Claire Keegan’s novel of the same name” – NME (New Musical Express) Feb 16, 2024 Full Review The Kitchen (2023) 91% 3/5 “Not as revolutionary as Children Of Men, nor as wild as Attack The Block, The Kitchen is still solid British sci-fi with a social-realist flavour. An auspicious directorial debut from Tavares and Kaluuya.” – Empire Magazine Jan 16, 2024 Full Review Napoleon (2023) 58% 4/5 “The details of historical truth be damned: this mighty adventure should be seen on the biggest screen possible. Charge on horseback to the multiplex to savour it.” – NME (New Musical Express) Nov 23, 2023 Full Review The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023) 64% 4/5 “It looks like no Katniss is no problem for Songbirds And Snakes. A fine blockbuster adventure for autumn” – NME (New Musical Express) Nov 17, 2023 Full Review Joram (2023) 95% “This film’s uncommon blend of sizzling action, lawless atmosphere and lively locations are presented with undeniable vigour and detail.” – Sight & Sound Nov 3, 2023 Full Review The Great Escaper (2023) 90% 4/5 “A moving and surprisingly nuanced drama offering far more than flag-waving nostalgia. Superb performances from Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson...” – Empire Magazine Oct 9, 2023 Full Review Master Gardener (2022) 71% 4/5 “Its pace may be too considered for some viewers — but as all true gardeners know, patience brings its own reward.” – Empire Magazine May 24, 2023 Full Review Kiss the Future (2023) 100% 4/5 “It’s easy to question the motives of pop stars who get behind a cause, but the end-product here is a joyful night for people who’ve experienced unimaginable hardship” – NME (New Musical Express) May 18, 2023 Full Review Corsage (2022) 86% 4/5 “A brilliant Vicky Krieps performance, ample surprises and a series of playful anachronisms elevate Marie Kreutzer’s period drama about a 19th century Empress above the ordinary. That, and a fine soundtrack to boot.” – Empire Magazine Dec 20, 2022 Full Review The Swimmers (2022) 82% 3/5 “A long, sometimes broad film, but one that tackles an important and prescient subject, especially considering the ever-increasing numbers of asylum seekers crossing seas in dangerous circumstances.” – Empire Magazine Nov 13, 2022 Full Review Moonage Daydream (2022) 92% 4/5 “A spectacular documentary portrait of a great artist and extraordinary pop star. Despite a few omissions, it’s a triumph of Sound And Vision, and essential for every David Bowie fan.” – Empire Magazine Sep 13, 2022 Full Review Armageddon Time (2022) 76% 4/5 “The coming-of-age tale has been done to death on-screen, but James Gray has injected new life into it here – and new thoughtfulness.” – Time Out May 24, 2022 Full Review Against the Ice (2022) 57% “Well-intentioned and occasionally gripping but overall somewhat flat.” – Little White Lies Feb 17, 2022 Full Review
