DJ Ahmet (2025) 89% “Macedonian director Georgi M Unkovski's first film overcomes tired coming-of-age tropes with authentic and vibrant characters and settings.” – Cineuropa Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Khartoum (2025) 92% “Alternating between intimate pre-war footage, re-enactments, and the stories of the protagonists’ memories and hopes, it is an emotional rollercoaster in which hope is replaced by fear and beauty clashes with the horrors of war, racism and displacement.” – Cineuropa Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Timestamp (2025) “Kateryna Gornostai’s mosaic-like, simultaneously sober and emotional observational documentary depicts school life across war-torn Ukraine.” – Cineuropa Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Beginnings (2025) “Trine Dyrholm’s powerhouse performance drives Jeanette Nordahl’s second feature, a sophisticated, grounded and universally relatable family drama.” – Cineuropa Apr 1, 2025 Full Review The Thing with Feathers (2025) 53% “Benedict Cumberbatch carries newcomer British director Dylan Southern’s stylistically distinct but narratively uneven psychological drama.” – Cineuropa Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Hysteria (2025) 91% “Büyükatalay doesn’t make it clear that the point might precisely be that there are no easy answers. He handles religious, philosophical and political issues with great sensitivity and care, which unfortunately cannot be said of the plot.” – Cineuropa Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Shadowbox (2025) “A small, subtle film which tenderly pulls on the strings of our emotions, but we may often wish the timbre was more substantial.” – Cineuropa Apr 1, 2025 Full Review The Stimming Pool (2024) “The film clearly tells us that it isn't directly interested in presenting a narrative. Instead, it is an experience in which our instinct to find the "story" is constantly challenged and the result is never frustrating thanks to its freshness.” – Cineuropa Dec 28, 2024 Full Review Love Lies Bleeding (2024) 94% “If Rose Glass's debut Saint Maud was a tautly disciplined and focused horror film, Love Lies Bleeding is its polar opposite: a steamy lesbian romance, a crime-thriller with fantasy elements and a feminist statement that doesn't shy away from camp. ” – Cineuropa Dec 28, 2024 Full Review Total Trust (2023) 100% “Zhang Jialing's urgent new documentary tackles state surveillance in China to gripping, frightening and heartbreaking effect.” – Cineuropa Dec 13, 2023 Full Review Museum of the Revolution (2021) 100% “We see... two women beaten, bruised and broken by their lives – but still not giving up.” – Cineuropa May 18, 2023 Full Review Delikado (2022) “An intimate story of hands-on environmental activism and a revelation of the true extent of Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs...” – Cineuropa Apr 20, 2023 Full Review Perpetrator (2023) 80% “Jennifer Reeder's new feminist horror treads the uncertain path between seriousness and campiness, but its atmospheric power and affirmative message are undeniable” – Cineuropa Mar 7, 2023 Full Review Tantura (2022) 94% “Tantura is an extremely well-researched film and is very competently put together, with numerous expert testimonies and priceless, previously unseen archive footage and photographs that leave little doubt as to what essentially happened...” – Cineuropa Oct 18, 2022 Full Review Black Mambas (2022) “Karbe's sober approach ensures that the crucial nuances of the complex topic stand out, as it is not possible to view any of them completely separately.” – Cineuropa May 2, 2022 Full Review The White Fortress (2021) 100% “Drljača's precise script and its exciting character arcs, Erol Zubčević's reliable camerawork and Ajla Odobašić's sober and rhythmical editing make it a tight, accomplished film, but its real star is the Serbian actor Čemerikić.” – Cineuropa Apr 17, 2022 Full Review Leonora Addio (2022) 38% “Consisting of two distinct parts, it again displays the old master's lightness of touch in what is an homage to Luigi Pirandello, his own youth, his country and its cinema.” – Cineuropa Mar 21, 2022 Full Review Sava (2021) “Despite a few... shortcomings, Sava runs smoothly, often dipping into a sort of magical whimsicality and nostalgia with Furlan's voice-over, partly written and partly improvised.” – Cineuropa Feb 1, 2022 Full Review Lada Kamenski (2018) “In the end, Lada Kamenski is quite a watchable little film, engaging and thought-provoking, but falling short of its own professed ambition - specifically in the thought department.” – Cineuropa Jan 5, 2022 Full Review Little Palestine: Diary of a Siege (2021) 100% “Little Palestine is a difficult watch, but it is also a testament to the spirit of the besieged.” – Cineuropa Sep 29, 2021 Full Review The Gig is Up (2021) 100% “Canadian director Shannon Walsh delivers an eye-opening investigative documentary on the gig economy.” – Cineuropa Sep 28, 2021 Full Review Summer Night (2019) 55% “Even though it is a decidedly small, intimate affair, Summer Nights offers a singular viewing experience...” – Cineuropa Sep 28, 2021 Full Review A Thousand Fires (2021) “Segments allow the viewer to reflect on the meaning of parenthood and family, and it is striking how easy it is to feel for these people coming from a completely different civilisational background...” – Cineuropa Sep 28, 2021 Full Review Divas (2021) “This conversation between generations - and sexes - is one of the film's most interesting aspects, but Kőrösi carefully sticks to the boundary he has set by the camera, except when explicitly invited to cross it...” – Cineuropa Sep 28, 2021 Full Review The Elegy of Laurel (2021) “In his first feature, Montenegrin director Duan Kasalica shows enviable control in a scathing drama about a self-satisfied man.” – Cineuropa Sep 28, 2021 Full Review
