Pepe (2024) 71% 6/10 “De Los Santos demonstrates some of his aesthetic expertise, but I feel that his narrative here lacks emotion and, for the most part, his experimental pretensions are lost in a rather convoluted discursive synthesis. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Apr 21, 2025 Full Review Lilo & Stitch (2002) 86% 6/10 “It's a Disney film that finds an acceptable tone with its traditional animation style, but unfortunately often treads on familiar clichés that take away the charm of its tropical fable about sisterhood, family, and aliens. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Apr 19, 2025 Full Review A Knight's Tale (2001) 59% 5/10 “Its medieval tale offers some moments of heroism with Ledger as the town knight, but unfortunately the plot is hopelessly corny. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Apr 17, 2025 Full Review The Name of the Rose (1986) 72% 6/10 “There is a certain degree of mystery with the priestly detective played by Sean Connery, but unfortunately, it frequent common places that take away intrigue from its plot about murder, heresy and corruption in medieval church. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Apr 15, 2025 Full Review The Gospel According to St. Matthew (1964) 89% 6/10 “With a refined aesthetic, Pasolini frames an ascetic portrait of Christ's journey in a neorealist style, but unfortunately, his approach to the biblical text is didactic. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Apr 13, 2025 Full Review Joan of Arc (1948) 82% 6/10 “Fleming delivers a Technicolor historical epic here that finds moments of production values and a remarkable performance from Ingrid Bergman, but unfortunately lacks the dramatic power needed to soar. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Apr 9, 2025 Full Review Ben-Hur (1925) 96% 7/10 “It is, without a doubt, a very exciting biblical epic. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Apr 7, 2025 Full Review Mickey 17 (2025) 77% 6/10 “Bong offers a sci-fi premise that questions capitalism and immigration with a certain pretension, but, in general, its plot is excessively fragmented and the strength between so many chaotic characters is almost not evident. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Apr 5, 2025 Full Review Black Bag (2025) 96% 6/10 “I suspect that this Soderbergh thriller ends up being a superficial effort about trust between spies, one that is unable to engage or excite in its 93 minutes. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Apr 2, 2025 Full Review Companion (2025) 93% 5/10 “It mixes genres in a convoluted way and, despite Sophie Thatcher's decent performance, never abandons the predictable side with its hollow stereotypes of killer robots. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 31, 2025 Full Review Disney's Snow White (2025) 40% 3/10 “It is, frankly, a soulless and perpetually boring remake, which produces serious numbing effects with the bland fairy tale of the seven CGI dwarfs and the pretentious little princess played without grace by Rachel Zegler. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 29, 2025 Full Review The Last Showgirl (2024) 83% 5/10 “Despite Anderson's standout performance, I get the slight feeling that the drama lacks a pulse and often remains stuck in a conventional zone that tends to overemphasize the obviousness of the dancer wanting one last show. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 27, 2025 Full Review Her Smell (2018) 83% 6/10 “Moss gives a remarkable, scene-stealing performance here, but unfortunately, the portrayal of the self-destructive rock star is unnecessarily long and has almost no dramatic pulse. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 25, 2025 Full Review Gauguin: Voyage to Tahiti (2017) 39% 5/10 “It offers some landscape shots with a tropical exoticism, but overall, I get the feeling that the surface of the misunderstood artist is barely painted and there is almost no space on the canvas to get to know him. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 23, 2025 Full Review Tale of Tales (2015) 83% 5/10 “Garrone takes care to add authenticity to the costumes and sets, but the three fantastic tales lack grace and become hopelessly boring in their macabre sense of irony. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 21, 2025 Full Review Blancanieves (2012) 94% 6/10 “It works decently when it adopts the formal properties of silent film, but I have the feeling that it is a dark fable adorned with facileness and that it lacks emotion in its folkloric notes on Spanish culture. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 19, 2025 Full Review Clash of the Titans (2010) 27% 4/10 “As a fantasy epic, it offers a riot of crappy CGI action sequences and a gratuitous mythology lesson on Greek gods, but overall, it's as flat as a stone carved with the head of Medusa. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 17, 2025 Full Review 1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992) 30% 5/10 “As a historical epic, it boasts an authentic rendering of the period that reflects Scott's attention to visual detail, but overall, its portrayal of the legendary conqueror is lost like a ship at sea. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 15, 2025 Full Review Macbeth (1971) 78% 5/10 “At times it's a historical epic in which Polanski maintains an atmospheric and violent tone, but, frankly, there is almost no power in the Shakespearean soliloquies and the characters are often as flat as a sword blade. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 11, 2025 Full Review Ulysses (1955) 6/10 “Despite the production values and a convincing performance by Kirk Douglas, I feel that the sword-and-sandal epic lacks any punch and generally resorts to clichés that take away the surprise from the hero's fantastic odyssey. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 9, 2025 Full Review Tarzan, the Ape Man (1932) 94% 6/10 “At times it's a film that benefits from Weissmuller's physical prowess as the legendary jungle hero, but overall, the exotic adventure treads repetitive ground that often gets lost amid the safari and the jungle call. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 7, 2025 Full Review Cabiria (1914) 93% 5/10 “As a silent historical epic, it has colossal sets that are framed with sophisticated camera movements, but in general I get the feeling that Pastrone does not add enough strength to the characters. [Full review in Spanish]” – Cinefilia Mar 5, 2025 Full Review The Brutalist (2024) 93% 6/10 “The drama features notable performances from Brody and Jones, but, despite its visual aesthetics, I have a sneaking suspicion that Corbet ends up demolishing the narrative like a building under construction.
