Until Dawn (2025) 51% “There are ways to make the films so that both game and film/television fans are happy. Sadly, David F. Sandberg’s adaptation of Supermassive Games’ creation, "Until Dawn", isn’t one of those films.” – The Film Nerdette Apr 25, 2025 Full Review Final Destination (2000) 40% B “Regardless of its initial reception, the film stands as an intriguing contribution to the horror genre, exploring themes of fate, destiny, loss, and tragedy.” – Nerdspin Mar 9, 2025 Full Review Companion (2025) 93% A “It’s not just a bloody, gory ride; it’s an engaging and, at times, delightfully goofy take on AI and its implications. While the supporting cast is simply unmatched, Sophie Thatcher as Iris truly steals the show.” – Nerdspin Jan 28, 2025 Full Review Wolf Man (2025) 50% B- “Adapted from George Waggner’s 1941 classic, Wolf Man is an intriguing and gory creature feature that explores themes of generational trauma, family, and fear. However, it’s not without its flaws.” – Nerdspin Jan 16, 2025 Full Review The Man in the White Van (2023) 56% B- “While Skeels’ film may not break new ground and could feel slow for some, it still delivers the hallmarks of an engaging true-crime thriller for fans of the genre.” – Nerdspin Dec 14, 2024 Full Review The Lodge (2019) 75% A “"The Lodge" is one of those films that you think about from time to time; I certainly do. With Keough playing one of the most harrowing roles, the film serves as a chilling cautionary tale with eye-catching cinematography and strong writing.” – Nerdspin Dec 5, 2024 Full Review Trick 'r Treat (2007) 82% A “Since its debut in 2007, "Trick ‘r Treat" has become an essential watch, mandatory during each Halloween season. Even knowing the outcome, we return to it year after year, as its themes continue to resonate with us. ” – Nerdspin Nov 11, 2024 Full Review My Old Ass (2024) 90% A- “While it’s undeniably hilarious with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, Park’s direction and script also evoke a sense of melancholy and introspection, especially as the film reaches its conclusion. ” – Nerdspin Sep 13, 2024 Full Review Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) 75% B “While the film may be a bit uneven, the stellar cast—including Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, and Jenna Ortega—brings hysterical and engaging performances.” – Nerdspin Sep 5, 2024 Full Review Doctor Sleep (2019) 78% A “Doctor Sleep is a worthy successor to The Shining, offering a blend of nostalgia and a thought-provoking tale of individuality, sobriety, grief, and generational friendship. ” – Nerdspin Aug 26, 2024 Full Review Strange Darling (2023) 96% A “Ultimately the less you know about the storyline of "Strange Darling", the better. All you need to know is that you’re in for a deranged story that challenges your perceptions, forcing you to question judgments made too quickly.” – Nerdspin Aug 23, 2024 Full Review Skincare (2024) 69% B- “While it might be a one-time watch for some, the film offers a wild journey from start to finish as we follow the main character on her mission to uncover who’s trying to destroy her life.” – Nerdspin Aug 18, 2024 Full Review Consumed (2024) 31% C “"Consumed" offers little to nothing that feels fresh or engaging as it adds to the horror genre. With the film’s stilted dialogues, tangled narrative, and characters making questionable decisions, it’s a film that quickly fades from one’s memory.” – Nerdspin Aug 13, 2024 Full Review Twisters (2024) 75% B- “Despite its flaws such as unevenly developed characters and sometimes exaggerated script, it still manages to deliver a fun ride with eye-catching weather action and a brief reflection” – Nerdspin Jul 18, 2024 Full Review Longlegs (2024) 86% A “Prepare yourself for a chilling experience akin to "The Silence of the Lambs" that will linger in your memory, especially after seeing Maika Monroe as Detective Lee Harker and Cage as Longlegs in one of their most spectacular portrayals.” – Nerdspin Jul 16, 2024 Full Review MaXXXine (2024) 72% A+ “"MaXXXine" is poised to become a favorite installment for many. Its distinctive, palpable atmosphere of 80s Hollywood horror and the compelling central character are captivating. ” – Nerdspin Jul 2, 2024 Full Review A Quiet Place: Day One (2024) 86% A- “Despite a few bumps where the scene is too long or perhaps slower, the film manages to keep the viewer engaged and throw another twist at its audience. In effect, you can’t stop watching and rooting for the survivors on their journey to safety. ” – Nerdspin Jun 27, 2024 Full Review Pearl (2022) 93% A- “All in all, "Pearl" doesn’t disappoint. While the film’s premise ponders the obsessive ambition and showcases its aftermath, the performances and costume design will impress scene after scene. ” – Nerdspin Jun 22, 2024 Full Review Cabrini (2024) 90% C “While Monteverde’s film highlights the main character’s incredible work (...), including its encounters with xenophobia, the biopic as a whole falls short of leaving a lasting impression on the spectator. ” – TheWrap Jun 22, 2024 Full Review Fancy Dance (2023) 96% A ““Fancy Dance” is a lot of things. It’s a road movie depicting a beautiful aunt-niece relationship, it’s a drama exploring one Native woman’s life, but most importantly, it’s a film that brings more awareness regarding the MMIW and its tragic epidemic. ” – TheWrap Jun 22, 2024 Full Review The Strangers: Chapter 1 (2024) 21% C “Despite decent acting and sound direction, "The Strangers: Chapter 1" is one of the new films to skip [..]. Otherwise, expect to leave the movie theater unhappy, confused, and perhaps resentful of having wasted an hour and a half.” – Nerdspin May 17, 2024 Full Review Skinamarink (2022) 74% A- “"Skinamarink", with its evocative visuals directly from our childhood horror dreams, is a standout among successfully disturbing found-footage films.” – Nerdspin May 8, 2024 Full Review Abigail (2024) 83% A “From start to finish, the creators offer us a violent feast that will appeal to horror film aficionados and vampire fans alike. ” – Nerdspin Apr 18, 2024 Full Review The Black Phone (2022) 81% A “Based on Joe Hill’s book of the same name, the creators provide one of the most memorable contemporary horrors, discussing loss, domestic violence, supernatural, and much more.” – Nerdspin Apr 10, 2024 Full Review Immaculate (2024) 71% A “Whether you think the film is great or perhaps far too shocking, one thing is certain: "Immaculate" will be one of the best horrors of the year. The film is not only frightening, but also thought-provoking, and it showcases Sweeney’s genre flair. ” – Nerdspin Mar 20, 2024 Full Review
