Jason Bailey Flavorwire 'The Apple' is the kind of nutty project that bad-movie love is all about: it's clearly the product of a singular, insane vision, unperturbed by any notion of good taste, good sense, or good storytelling. Aug 6, 2017 Full Review Eric Henderson Slant Magazine Noxious. Rated: 1/4 Aug 24, 2004 Full Review Jason Shawhan Nashville Scene Cannon Films producer/mogul Menahem Golan made this beautiful and tacky allegory in a way that predicts the whole "dance like there's no one watching" aspirational mentality, and I grow more grateful for it with each day that passes. Nov 22, 2021 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy The Apple is of course awful as a movie but fabulous as a camp classic -- like Ed Wood's output, it's the sort of film that triggers amusement rather than anger at its ineptitude. Rated: 1/4 Nov 8, 2021 Full Review Austin Trunick Under the Radar Part Biblical allegory, part 1984, and entirely one of the best camp musicals ever committed to film, The Apple features incredible, Busby Berkeley-esque dance numbers and some of the best sci-fi fashion of the 1970s. Oct 18, 2017 Full Review Tim Brayton Antagony & Ecstasy A completely unadulterated bundle of the worst of cinema all spun up into one ball of madness. It cannot be described, and it can barely be experienced. Rated: 2/10 May 17, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member The Apple is one of the strangest movies that I have seen. I have noticed that there are a few good ideas within the movie such as the world within the 1990’s being governed by this “apple”. Which is very dystopian in nature yet I would find it rather odd that it took a musical route and felt that there was way too much going on that separates the interesting setting the movie establishes. Speaking of the musical side, some of the music was catchy yet others truly dabble into the weird and strange. What was interesting about these musical encounters is how colorful they were. With each color correlating to the subject of the scene for example the ceremony with the protagonist and his lover was a mix of yellow and orange reflecting something natural and mundane. Overall, it's a movie that I will not see again, nor would I recommend it, but it was an experience. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/21/25 Full Review Gevork G The Apple was actually one of the strangest movies I have ever watched. It felt like there were many different ideas they tried to cram into this film and none of it made sense together. It is a musical which I am not the biggest fan of. I like the Sci-fi aspect of some of the parts of this movie. Its chaotic but there is still some amusement to be found. There were biblical references including Adam and Eve. In general I am not too good at catching these references but after some research and reflection it made sense. I mean if you can get over the nonsensical plot and look at it for its good sense and crazy vision it could be worth a shot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review LAISHA M The Apple is exactly what its called, a movie that depicts that very important moment in religion when adam and eve eat the apple and are punished by god for it. This movie though rewrites this story in a new and citchy way. With interesting music and costumes I was in a trance through out the whole story. It did have some very cheesy moment and points where it was very obvious what it was trying to incorporate but over all it was a great watch. I truthfully enjoyed this movie and am shocked its gotten such a bad score when I think its better than most "cult" movies Ive seen. Loved the music the most, it has a very nastolgic feel and interesting sound. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/27/25 Full Review Erick V The film "the apple" is very strange and different type of movie with a strange and crampy musical set in a type of futuristic in which music is in control of everything. the movie does follow two young singers which get caught up with fame The film does give the idea of the adam and eve because of the lure of fame and success. The film is different and has a type of humor which is now considered a cult classic due to how weird the film presents itself. The songs are a bit unique and have a catchy tone but its not a perfect film which is unique, weird and such. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/24/25 Full Review serenity s The film was very random at times, and I didn’t like how the film was made. The songs and the acting were not the best either, which is what I think makes this film a flop. They should have invested in making the acting and songs from the film better. I think, though, that is what makes the movie so famous, making it a cult film because, yes, it’s bad, but people remember the film because of how bad it is. I think that’s why I can’t say that I completely hate it because i really liked how the costumes are so bad that you are able to get a good laugh out of it even if the story is bad. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review Jesus A This film is deffently something as it is very different inn many ways. Fisrt of all the with the film being a musical I am not sure if all musicals films are like this but you get different genres of music in this film from rock to pop and disco. I can see why this film had success in the cult category as it is a cheesy film in a way. This film does offer many other things such as futuristic themes and a weird costume style but if you into cult films I would recommend this fim as it is one of the worst films.
