April Fool's Day Reviews
For 80s Surprise Slashers, SLEEPAWAY CAMP and This! How do you write a review for this movie without giving away too many spoilers and still make somebody want to watch it? It starts with an ahead-of-its-time meta scene. Then, it gets into some crazy pranks by the characters. You might start by thinking "oh, bad acting", but you get used to it pretty quickly. It's the 80s! Then, the slasher elements start creeping up. Predictable victims and offscreen kills. Even though it may seem like a run-of-the-mill slasher, you'll have to admit, it's a fun one. It was directed by the guy who did When a Stranger Calls but is surprisingly somehow much more interesting and entertaining. It was written, however, by the guy who did Beverly Hills Cop. If nothing else tips you off that this is going to be different, that should. Truly, hats off. Ya got me!
The most disappointing thing about this slasher is the ending. The ending really ruins what could have been an average eighties horror movie. They managed to lose all their credibility by changing their mind about most of the movie. It is an unbelievably frustrating movie as none of it is real. The tension builds and subsides without any real fear. It could have been a lot worse though. It was relatively well made and it was never boring. It felt like a Miss Marple mystery with added violence. Fine to watch however April Fool's Day if you can accept the ending. A murder mystery and not a slasher, bit of a joke really.
Really enjoyed this one. Watch if you can.
Love this movie,, Amy Steele is one of my favourite actresses 💙
It was fun to relive some 80s nostalgia when the kids were crude an inappropriate, even if it dragged on a little too long before the first "kill". The twisty ending surprised me.
APRIL FOOL’S DAY stands out amid the glut of 80s slashers as a truly enjoyable whodunnit with an excellent twist.
this movie is a good slasher movie with a great twist
This is pretty far-fetched, but the cast is good, as is the music score. It has a good atmosphere, too. I really don't understand those who call this a slasher. There is no slashing in the movie!
Really pleasant watch, atmosphere of suspense and a tiny bit of mystery, finished by a nice twist at the end. I don't get all the negative opinions it received
Terrible, amateurish acting with horrible twist.
It had been a good amount of years since I last watched this film and it was great to see it not only holds up well but cleans up just as nicely, too.
Recommend for horror fans only who've seen all the well-known ones and are looking for a new entry to watch. Especially if a fan of 80's slashers. Great film? No. Better than most 80's slashers? Yes.
Paul Rudd was not in this movie.
If you're looking for a fun film with a lot of twists and turns, then give April Fool's Day a watch. A group of friends go to spend spring break at a friend's house on an island her family owns. Of course this vacation happens to fall on April 1st. There's definitely going to be pranks, but as someone starts picking off the friends, it's quickly becomes a nightmare. The whole movie keeps you guessing. It's a fun slasher, but with so many surprises. It's hard to say much about this movie without spoiling it, so just take my word for it and give it a chance. There's a couple plot flaws, but it does not take away from the enjoyment of the film.
Ahhh, April Fool's Day. What can I say about this 80's slasher movie? Not the greatest slasher movie but it was fun. I watched a ton of slasher movies while growing up. So many that they all kind of blend together in my memories. April Fool's Day is one movie that I always remember as being different from the other movies. I have a soft spot for this movie and make sure I watch it at least once a year. https://foreverfinalgirl.com/april-fools-day/
The movie lives true to its title and doesn't apologize for it. Whether you love or hate the twist at the end, it separates itself in that regard from all the other 80 slasher films.
An underrated film that usually becomes a topic of debate between Horror and non-Horror fans. The film is from 1986 so if you weren't there, then you don't know what it was like. Twist/Dream/Hoax endings were HUGE and they were everywhere including a way to end music videos, 온라인카지노추천 (Dallas and Newhart anyone?), films and commercials. April Fool's Day was marketed as a Horror-Slasher picture against the director's wishes so the film is tied to reluctance from production. Otherwise if you take the film for what it's worth, it's an enjoyable ride. The one major gripe I have with the film is the sound. The sound engineer decided to add a constant jet sound to everything. If you are a musician, it is a flange effect and it is absolutely awful. A serious audio transfer is needed.
It would be forgettable except for the great twist.
I can understand why this movie is polarizing for horror fans, but I think that hate is misplaced. To me, this is an 80s slasher classic. For it to have the balls that it does with that ending, is something to be applauded. Plus it just has some great, likeable characters.
