Casino Royale Reviews
I admire the film for insanely bonkers it goes and the cast is incredible, but man it is an mess but it’s my biggest guilty pleasure
An interesting classic comedy film. Orson Welles and Woody Allen were funny. It was about James Bond and he hired other people to impersonate him. The casino scene was nice. This movie was not that similar to Casino Royale (2006).
The comedy is a pain up my ass
The whole movie is just a mess from start to finish. The plot makes no sense at all, the cast is extremely underutilized, and it all just fails miserably at what it attempts.
This is probably one of, if not THE most amazing movie that I have ever seen. The amazing thing is that such a large number of great actors became involved in it. It is the biggest load of rubbish (of any and all genres) that I have ever seen.
If i could give this film zero stars I would.....its so terrible that its an insult to comedy, to parodies, to film itself.
Admittedly the best joke in the film is right at the end when Woody Allen gets sent to Hell. Still, aside from that crowd-pleaser, Casino Royale is boringly incoherent, tone-deaf and groan-worthy parody hidden under the guise of legitimacy. On paper, this film had all the ingredients to be a somewhat unique and interesting voice in the fast-approaching oversaturation of the spy genre, yet it consistently makes the worst choices during execution, undermining its talented cast and crew. What can I honestly say about a film with 5 directors and 10 writers? It's reckless, disconnected nonsense, nearly impossible to follow but the cast alone does admittedly sell the picture, need I say more about having Orson Welles as Le Chiffre? Astonishingly unfunny, Casino Royale is a remarkable mess of a film, one that could easily be mistaken for a psychedelic, absurdist masterpiece; one that features a few innovative sets, a wealth of eye-popping colours and oodles of bared midriff, but even those can't redeem this juvenile experiment in adolescent fantasy; a definitive example of what happens when everybody working on a film goes simultaneously berserk.
waste of everything with those clowns
Absolute crapola. If the choice is watching this or watching paint dry, go with the paint-it'll be more entertaining.
I'll be honest, they had me at the theme song. This is a funny action movie but it suffers from starring Peter Sellers and Woody Allen. When they go past the punchline and keep waffling, no one had the nerve to yell `cut! Do it again but shorter.` There are also too many guest appearances shoved in with a crowbar, but a good half of the last battle is fun.
Casino Royale feels more like a knock-off of James Bond than an actual feature 007 film, whacky, stupid and lifeless.
I could've given this 0 out of 5...I really could have.. During the middle it felt like a 0. The acting is so terribly boring and horrifically unfunny. Seriously what the heck happened here? You have a All Star Cast. Whoever thought Niven & Kerr would be great at slapstick comedy needed to be fired. There is no chemistry at all between anyone and the jokes never get a laugh, usually they don't make a bit of sense. The music is the best thing and it isn't that good either, usually it feels very misplaced or generic and forgettable. The editing and pacing are so atrociously bad it isn't even funny. The cinematography is so bizarre also because this has so much production value on the screen it is mind boggling. This feels like a 007 spoof, mixed with a bad comedy, and a SNL skit show that has no idea at all how to make it all work. I seriously can't tell you who the main character is, I KIND OF have an idea what this was about, and sometimes I seriously don't even know. This goes into random Segway's constantly and it makes no sense and isn't funny. This is mind boggling how bad and misguided this is. This is a insult to the star power in it and a insult to 007. Stay away at all cost. Watch the Austin Powers movies instead. Easily the worst Bond film ever made.
A unfunny comedy that has good set pieces, but a poor plot 3/10
LOL, the funniest 02 hours: and 11 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe I thought this was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen when I saw it in the theater when I was 13 years old. I paid $3.99 to watch on Amazon prime and not only do I want my money back they should've paid me.

Confusing Story and Wacky Casting. Casino Royale is a Bond film best forgotten in the eyes of film.
The 1967 version of "Casino Royale" is offensive. James Bond's personality is completely distorted, the Scottish characters have an Italian accent, the editing is bizarre and nonsensical, and all people responsible for the sector were possibly drunk. Woody Allen making comedy is shameful, Orson Welles' character is criminally misused, and I must admit that Peter Sellers would be a cool 007 if it wasn't for this film. David Niven seems to hate 007, his inverted personality (THERE ARE NO BOND GIRLS!) and lack of protagonism annoyed me a lot, and his James Bond almost made me nauseous. The soundtrack was torturous for my ears, none of the jokes worked, and the final battle is messy, chaotic and stereotyped. And as we're talking about a film named "Casino Royale", I can't end this review without talking about the card game scene. In the 2006 film, Bond and Le Chiffre were playing poker, and now, they're playing Baccarat. While the poker game was understandable even for the ones like me who don't know ANYTHING about the game, the Baccarat game was incomprehensible. That scene is wrongly restrictive, and consequently, there's no tension. By the way, during a moment, they (writers and directors) tried to emulate a psychological thriller/horror sequence, but it was something atrocious. A satire, to be efficient, must check two main boxes: be efficiently funny and do its criticism correctly. While "Don't Look Up" fails on the first box but succeeds on the second one, "Casino Royale" fails on both. I hated every single second of this production, and I can't wait to erase it from my mind.
To understand Casino Royale (1967) is to understand the 60s. It falls apart in so many ways and basically becomes a stew of unrelated treasures. While it does follow the Flemming book (sort of) its attempt to blend action, comedy, and science fiction along with misogyny, lechery, and popular music from the time. In a case of too many cooks, Casino Royale to me is like an old Playbook book come to life.
