The M North of North is a wonderfully heartfelt show. Its the story of a Canadian Inuk woman and her struggles to find her voice and make her own life. The characters are very human, interesting, and funny and the stories of each character very relatable. Anna Lambe MAKES this show ! Her acting is so real you can feel her emotion with all she encounters. A definite must-watch !! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/12/25 Full Review Gregory M It's like some American girl lives in the north. It just doesn't seem realistic and it's typical lame Canadian acting and writing Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/09/25 Full Review Drew H This series is a delight. It takes a few episodes to hit it's stride, but when it does it just leaves a smile on your face while also exploring generational trauma. The music is great, the acting is fun, and it's a very easy watch. But it's 10x better if you actually watch it instead of multi tasking Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/05/25 Full Review Katie L How was this show renewed but pulse wasn't? Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/04/25 Full Review Tom T RT rated at 100%... 5 stars (?). Awww c'mon ! Seems like one star given for being about indigenous population, one star given for seeming to include some indigenous folks as actors. Good on them but take those away and artistic rating would be closer to 3 stars or less. Kinda cute show but mediocre AT BEST writing and so so acting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/04/25 Full Review KC E There is definitely room for improvement, but I’m glad I didn’t give up on it after watching the first episode! Here’s what’s working: - Siaja’s character is funny, fresh, and awkward in a very endearing and personable way. - The show premise based in the lives of modern Inuk people is also fresh, unique and engaging. - The writing and storylines improve measurably as the first season progresses. - There’s some great music in each episode! Here’s what needs work: - The Helen character feels VERY tone deaf—why is this character who is in what seems to be a very community-oriented position of power and influence white and why does she have to be so obtuse and bitchy? There is no backstory good enough to justify casting choices like this anymore-seriously! I really hope this character just gets written out. I know the show creators were probably just looking for their Michael Scott or Leslie Knope, but what they didn’t realize is they already have that with Siaja. Plus Helen is a total scene and mood killer! - Then there’s the Ellen White character. Really??! I mean… REALLY??! All I can say is ditto to what I just said above. Good job doubling-down on all that tone deafness guys! And thanks for bringing in some “Real Housewives of the Arctic” vibes with her too-so cool (insert eye-roll emoji here). - And finally, the Ting character is just not acceptable. There is no humor in watching a man be mean to and belittle and berate his wife. From the first 5 minutes of the show it’s pretty much impossible to care about him at all because the things he says to Siaja are just too harsh and mean to ever be funny. As the season goes on he is also given no real redeeming qualities in any of the storylines. It just feels stale, trite and like a missed opportunity for something new and refreshing. He definitely needs an overhaul! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/02/25 Full Review Read all reviews
