Seen this over 10 times. Great movie for it's time.

Ahh, the eighties – big hair and even bigger action movies. Weren’t they great? Well, ‘Navy Seals’ may feel like an eighties action movies, but it was technically released in 1990 (I figure it was in production in the latter stages of the eighties, so I reckon it’s an eighties movie at heart!). Basically, Charlie Sheen and Michael Biehn have to lead their platoon on a fight against a load of those dastardly communists before they blow up something they shouldn’t. It’s hard to believe that Charlie Sheen was ever once considered an ‘action star.’ He does his best to lead the way here, exhibiting a few manic onscreen qualities that, at the time, looked like he was trying to give his character some sort of ‘maverick’ feel (think Mel Gibson in the ‘Lethal Weapon’ series). However, seeing as what he turned into, I wonder whether this side of him was always there? It’s a simple movie for a simpler time. It’ll never be remembered alongside the truly great (and explosive) action movies of the eighties, mainly fronted by the ‘big’ action stars like Arnie, Sly, Bruce and possibly Van Damme. But, despite its averageness, it’s still an enjoyable watch if you’re looking for goodies vs baddies. I guess that the fact that the two main stars weren’t ‘A-list’ went some way to defining ‘Navy Seals’ as a B-movie through and through. You certainly won’t remember any of the other seals besides the two leads. Despite one being played by Bill Paxton, none of them are afforded half as much screen-time as the two leads. It feels only slightly more expensive than a ‘made for 온라인카지노추천’ film. We see the team of seals on their days off and watch them messing around (bonding?) before being sent on various missions. Naturally, the suits in charge of their unit want to play politics and create some extra friction, but our rebellious heroes will win the day nonetheless. I read online that Michael Biehn (he was in ‘Terminator’ and ‘Aliens’ in case you don’t know him – I assume most people know Charlie Sheen from his weird meltdown antics later on in life!) described the film as one of the worst he had ever worked on. Assuming that Charlie Sheen was actually sane back then and Biehn wasn’t referring to working with him, I assume he means that it was simply a ‘paycheque’ film. It does feel like it from time to time, but, despite its many clichés, it’s not a bad film if you’re just looking for a cheesy action shooty type affair. Surprisingly, Charlie Sheen is great for the lead role and there are some strong supporting actors here but the script is almost brazenly predictable and cliched. It's about as personal as a Christmas letter from a bank.

Not Good and its disappointing saying that. The acting is ok overall but the characters outside of the two leads are very generic and forgettable with stale dialogue overall. The cinematography and editing feel very average overall. The soundtrack is beautifully dated and is arguably the best part of the movie. The worst part of the movie is the pacing. The whole middle of the movie nothing happens overall and really kills everything. The action scenes are not bad overall but there not phenomenal. And the plot has points where there is scenes that you could take out and nothing would be lost overall. (Hawkins getting his car off the truck is a perfect example). Overall its doesn't do anything very good and outside of the pacing nothing is egregiously bad but the negatives unfortunately outweigh the positives here overall. Honestly skip it.

So many faults with this movie and it's totally awesome. Sometimes ya gotta switch off the critical mind and enjoy the show. It isn't trying to be a thought provoking movie. If you're not into that kinda thing then don't bother watching it

This action movie was great. Charlie Sheen, Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie. The plot to the movie was action-packed, dramatic, and intense. It's about fighting for your country and preventing terrorists from spreading chaos and death. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. Don't listen to the bad reviews. Those people have bad tastes in movies and they can't see why this is a great movie.

Great movie with big stars...Charlie Sheen and Michael Biehn as the driving force, 3 actors from the Cameron Terminator series, and the Progressive commercial guy from Heat...Good movie, that came early 90, in the height of Terminators success, and a young Bill Paxton (rip), it just so happens to be a Navy Seal movie...The Top Gun of Navy Seal movies...Great actors and a adrenaline pumpin 90's soundtrack...I give it a 4 out of 5...

If people can accept Top Gun as a unrealistic and macho fighter pilot film. Then they should be able to accept this macho and unrealistic Navy Seals film. A plus is Michael Biehn and Bill Paxton reunited after Aliens.

Story is pedestrian, acting okay, but the action and stunt sequences, especially the skydive, are very well done and worth watching. Fans of 80s style action films will like this movie.

A classic from '90 that shouldn't be overthought and analyzed by "critics" of any sort. The title alone should be enough of an indicator to whether or not this movie is for you.

Basically it's just military recruitment propaganda. There is some fun to be had though with the comradery between the soldiers. Your entertainment will vary, depending on how much you like to watch Sheen go full Tiger Blood.

Not to terrible of a movie.

This movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. The story is predictable and a bit over-the-top at moments, but for late 80s/early 90s U.S. special forces action, it's a fun ride and has a great cast. It's one that couldn't / wouldn't be made today because of an abundance of testosterone, guns, and fighting Middle-Eastern terrorists that actually look and act like Middle-Eastern terrorists. Go figure.

This movie was my introduction as a child to the United States special ops world. Just watched it again 30 years after the first time I watched it. It was even better the second time around. But have to set straight a mistake written into the screenplay or script that I couldn't have possibly known until I wash an army Ranger myself. Under no circumstances would they leave teammates bodies where they laid. And I'm quite shocked I haven't seen this same observation years earlier.

Ok movie. The story is formulaic, the characters are routine, and half of the performances are kind of stale, aside from Biehn and Sheen, but the action and directed are well-executed and there's a certain charm to the film. Plus, that golfing sequence.

This is not a very good flick. Just another Top Gun wannabe with zero plot. But I love it. It's most memorable performance, Bill Paxton.
