The SEALS performed heroically in Vietnam, and deserve a better tribute.

Unfortunately, [Teague is] working from a cliche-choked, insensitive script.

Good, solid entertainment -- that`s what Navy SEALs provides in a winning package worth the price of admission.

Anyone in the market for some B-film Arab-bashing might find this movie tolerable entertainment. It's otherwise destined to make its biggest impact among Charlie Sheen archivists.

Director Teague does stage the action sequences with logic and clarity, though there isn`t much he can do with the dramatic passages.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Jul 14, 2014
The movie is full of macho swagger and unabashed hero-worship.

A very pompous version of the kind of nonsense Chuck Norris has been doing in far less embarrassing fashion for so many years.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jul 14, 2014
Navy Seals stands out among this summer's violence-oriented pictures as the only one that doesn't leave your brain feeling like mashed potatoes.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Jul 14, 2014
Director Lewis Teague lets off the requisite number of explosions, but the script is riddled with clichés and Sheen is hardly a charismatic lead.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jul 14, 2014
It's difficult to accept these trained SEALs as anything more than a species of Dirty Dozen.

Who wrote this -- Oliver North?

US foreign policy is reduced to shots of aircraft carriers and hard men shooting their way through various locations.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jul 14, 2014
It's the dullest action movie since The Green Berets.

I was bored silly by the Crayola mechanics. Navy Seals hasn't aged well, and now I rather hate my younger self for ever buying into the mentally challenged antics of the film.

Nifty performances make this routine action flick better than it probably has a right to be.

[It] amounts to a less-than-involving two-hour commercial for the Navy.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Jan 9, 2008
Not entirely bereft of entertainment value, even if most of it comes in the "unintentional" variety.

So-so pro military recruitment movie with some thrills/

Teague, meanwhile, is far too busy orchestrating the large-scale action sequences to make anything of the cardboard characters, episodic plotting, or clunking dialogue.
