Bad Boys Reviews
Watched again now, Smith’s performance is weirdly subdued, as if all the emphasis is really on the established comic talent Lawrence, and Smith is his straight man.

Those wondering if Bad Boys has aged well should know that it’s as feculent as ever.

Casting Martin Lawrence and Will Smith resulted in a comedy gold and their buddy-cop chemistry clicks the moment they appear on-screen, bickering and dissing each other.

I don't understand how this wasn't critically well-received when it came out but it's very entertaining.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Jan 8, 2023
This movie is still hilarious with timeless jokes. The chemistry with the two black leads is unmatched. This is a classic.

Through a mixture of charisma and testosterone Smith and Lawrence manage a handful of chuckles and a couple of decent action scenes. But their shtick eventually runs its course...

The technical problems are insignificant next to the dialogue issues, which occasionally distract from story inconsistencies.
| Original Score: 4/10 | Sep 9, 2020
A surprisingly well-aged mid-90s action classic boosted by both its central two-hander and Bay's commitment to kinetic carnage.

Entertainment of the gratingly commercial, teeth-rattling variety is provided in Bad Boys.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 29, 2019
With its loose-limbed, wisecracking rhythms and its energetic stars, Bad Boys manages to overcome its shopworn premise and turn the old cop-buddy movie formula in a fresh and funny direction.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Mar 29, 2019
These are two high-energy, likable performers, and yet long passages unwind in which they are terribly boring because they are working without much of a script.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Mar 29, 2019
Perhaps in a misguided effort to capitalize on the stars' comedic talents, the producers diluted the hardball violence of Bad Boys with extraneous shtick and too much banal banter.

The plot and characterisation are largely irrelevant - just sit back and feast on the adrenaline-pumping action and the live-wire banter of the two stars.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Mar 29, 2019
Smith and Lawrence have great comic energy and for at least half an hour are sublimely enjoyable -- until the movie's spirit of bloated gargantuanism takes over.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Mar 29, 2019
At almost two hours, the film is at least 30 minutes too long.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Mar 29, 2019
The unfailingly ingratiating Smith glides through the movie.
