Get Carter Reviews

Sly was.totally miscast. Caine played the original to perfection. Less is more etc. Sly was playing Rocky or Rambo all over again and not very well. The director and screenwriter were pants as well.

Such a poor movie. 1st 15 minutes watching a funeral and after that only bla bla.. i stopped watching after 35 minutes. Maybe the worst movie from stallone. In the 1st 35 minutes nothing happend .. going to church is more spectacular

As far as action/crime films go, this was a very standard affair. Not great, not horrible, just standard.

Damn this is bad. Sly is only good for playing the crazy dude or the punching ball. Waste of time and money.

Truly awful. Sure this was talked about positively back in the day… evidently not. Lol. I gave up after 30mins…

Stallone is going through the motions but the script does no one any favors.

another amazing Sylvester Stallone movie. love it!

Yikes, how did Stallone's career go so wrong that he was making drivel like this...? It's an ugly, self-serious, drab revenge flick that has little going on for itself. The recurring joke about him being dressed like Frank Sinatra is kind of funny though...

It is not a bad movie, it is just not a good one. It was planned to be slow and cumbersome, so that has to be accepted. I like all the good actors and actresses, they certainly are fun to watch. But with way the movie is directed most of the good acting is lost. This should have been a faster paced movie with less emotional baggage which, let's face it, Stallone is not the best at.

Another film I give ZERO out of FIVE STARS! I tried to like this film but the writing and the acting just made me say no. I had to follow my heart and give it a thumbs down.

Get Carter proves that a remake is usually not only inferior to the original, but also unnecessary. Get Carter is a revenge thriller in the tradition of Point Blank, The Limey, and Death Wish. Jack Carter (Stallone) has come home to Seattle from Vegas, where he works as a gangster's enforcer, for his brother's funeral. Although the younger Carter's death was ruled to be a drunk driving accident, Jack doesn't buy it. He thinks someone took his brother out, and he's determined to find out the bad guy's identity. The director is Stephen T. Kay, who admittedly does a good job developing a cold, brittle atmosphere. Rainy Seattle comes across as one of the most bleak and inhospitable places on Earth. Unfortunately, Kay has fallen victim to the all-too-common belief that lots of quick cuts, strange shots, and quirky camera movements can compensate for a deficient script. The final third of Get Carter is oversaturated with unnecessary "stylish" flourishes that reduce the storyline to a confused muddle. There are better Stallone movies out there.(Shoddy screenplay destroys Get Carter).

Get Carter is a movie that shows us how far someone is willing to go in order to prove a point and prove who is behind the dilemma of the mistake. In other words, as in someone must have really set this person off in order to come to his hometown in order to find the man who assassinated his brother, even if he hasn't been since god knows when. That's what we get in this murky-muddle of a remake Get Carter. The original starred Michael Caine as Jack Carter, a British man coming back to London to get revenge for his brother who was killed. In this we just get typical Hollywood trying to out smart the original because it's Hollywood, but still had some moments in it that you might enjoy

I don't fully understand the criticism for this film. I loved it! But then again I haven't seen the original so can't compare that. Bit good film on it's own in my opinion.

Editing and subplots are the only big issues among this production. This remake is terribly unwatchable as viewers say. It doesn't surpass the original but it's not awful. The acting is fine, the action is fun and the music is nicely updated. For my full review of Get Carter (2000), check it out on this IMDB link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0208988/reviews-323

It's good movie to watch

Apr 18, 2016

Made it about 15 mins into the movie and had to turn it off. Beyond boring and went nowhere fast. Was hoping to enjoy it a little bit. Had great actors.

Stallone has a couple of scenes where he amazes with his acting otherwise fairly forgettable. I enjoyed the soundtrack-watched this on the treadmill. yvr as Seattle
