On the Run Reviews

The first movie in the Trilogy is a kind of an old-fashioned movie build up around this lone revolutionary who escapes from prison into a world that has changed. You expect more tension from a movie of this kind nowadays, but the acting is good and so is the story. The plot could have used a spark. Having not seen the two other film yet, I can only review this as an isolated film. Catherine Frot is an outstanding actress.

Un trilogie epatante, trois facons de percevoir les faits. Et des acteurs qui jouent tres bien.

Cavale is the first part of an interesting trilogy. Belgian director Lucas Belvaux has made three movies from three different genres with same cast. First one tells about a terrorist who escapes from a prison and plans a new attack. Although movie has a slow start the excitement gets tenser towards ending. However, something is missing and movie is easily forgottable but still good onetime entertainment.

You will find it's amazing when you saw all of the trilogy. This part is the funniest one.

This was an amazingly quiet movie. I would do 3 stars, save the quiet intensity of the lead which embodied much more than the rest of the film would give you otherwise

Poor mans three colours trilogy

If I could choose between being sodomised with a clawhammer or watching Trilogy: One again I would always choose the clawhammer. But that may say more about my sexual preferences than my taste in film. So let m,e just say that Trilogy: One is the worst film ever made. Every single pretentious frenchfilm stereotype is here poncing about. Really, I wish I'd died.

Thriller about a leftist revolutionary who breaks out of prison. It was a good film in itself, but the most interesting thing about it is that it is the first part of a trilogy, with the next two films, a comedy and a melodrama respectively, taking place at the same time, and featuring some of the same characters.

I liked this part of Triolgy. I like the moments where Belvaux is all alone and the lengths he goes to in trying to bring back his long gone revolution. Okay so it gets all complicated with a past realtionship, its french, it has to have this crap. If only he'd stuck to the pure terrorist plotline it would have been a great film. Good cinematography in this film and a good car chase at the start.

Interestingly, it displayed an escaped man from the prison for being rebellious against the government... and cache drug dealer also... Glamour performance by the cast along with bizarrely quiet cat and mouse game... with very dangerous and unpredictable ending of the movie that may poisonously charges you... piss off... Overall, it was nicely plain done!

it´s a average thriller film

Reminded me of Sur Mes Lévres, and Cinq fois Deux, in fact - French film at its darkest and most understated. Wonderfully acted, a thrilling start to the trilogy.

I did not really like this movie.

You know it's hard out here for a lonely fugitive in this thriller, the first in a trilogy of interlocking stories and themes. As with all three films, the whole is greater than its parts, but on its own, 'On the Run' comes deliciously hard-boiled.
