The movie definitely pales in comparrison to the original, but that's to be expected considering how awesome the original was. I doubt even Verhoeven would be able to make a good follow up. With that out of the way, the 2014 remake is a decent movie. Is it amazing? No. It is however a decently fun film with some good acting and great supporting cast. I'd love to see what they could do with a new RoboCop movie now. Hopefully Amazon's version lives up to the original, but even if it doesn't, it's RoboCop so they'll have me watching day one.

Compared to the original RoboCop, this one can't really compete. It lacks the intensity and action of the first one, which made this a real downgrade. Better than it has every right to be, this reboot is much darker and with more teeth than the original franchise, with tighter parts overall, even if a few elements are loose and undercooked or poorly cast.

Good modern take on the original Robocop story. Less of a gory action film and looks a bit more at the ethical problems with a cyborg cop. Good, happy ending, and Samuel L. Jackson screams some aswell. Its nice seeing the movie be treated as a single story, unlike the original, which has some craptastic sequels and ended with quite a few questions left unanswered. The movies complement eachother, but both have a different tone. Definitely doesnt deserve the hate.

Rewatching, I still find it fun. Well casted, it could be a deeper film given the capacity of the actors involved. If I compared this to say, District 9, this is inferior.

A massive fan of the original 'RoboCop' (1987), this version falls a little short with lack of 'the guy of all Detroit' from the original, however, the use of modern technology makes this film a thrilling one to watch and a unique twist on events. Worth a watch!

No where near one of the best remakes in film. Robocop is a modern reimagined of the great before it that has a good enough cast, not a great enough screenplay.

Rubbish. Really, it's so bad. The original is excellent if you are an 80's action movie fan, but no amount of Gary Oldman and maybe Samuel L Jackson, and Michael Keaton could detract from everything else which was just terrible. Music stood out a bit.

Not a classic like the original, but still fairly relevant in its execution, RoboCop (2014) is a sleek and well-produced action-thriller with a lot on its mind but not enough time to fully explore the themes it's juggling. Still, it's a better movie than the sequels.

The 1987 film was a landmark in science fiction/action cinema, becoming a true classic. When I saw that they would do a remake, I was a little worried, even though I knew that the direction was in the capable hands of director José Padilha (TROPA DE ELITE). Of course, for me, the old one is better, because the story was original and the drama of a man becoming a machine is deeper and more violent than the new version, which is more familiar. Even so, it has its charm and my respect, because, in addition to showing the same conflicts (but in a lighter way), it delves into the theme that some large cooperative companies pretend to do good to just obtain more profits. The action is guaranteed even without spilling a drop of blood, the actors' performance is good, the plot is very enjoyable and the special effects do not disappoint. I just think that some catchphrases from the original Robocop were not used or explored well, which is a shame.

It's you usual modern director thinking they can do better their way, make Robo faster and have more guns and more enemies and yet it feels so much less because its all cgi and unrealistic. Robo himself look terrible like a guy in a cheap plastic Halloween suit, you don't get any impression he's a cyborg, looks like something from one of the 80s robocop/terminator low budget rip offs
