Grant Watson Fiction Machine Shotgun boasts a gritty premise, the kind that would become increasingly popular among westerns in the 1960s and 1970s. Here, however, the film pulls a lot of its punches. The result feels very middle-of-the-road and ordinary. Audience Member Colorful western with Yvonne and Zachary adding much to the film even if Hayden is his usual stiff as a board self. Yvonne looks great in her short hair and western gear, the problem is that she looks like a woman set out to rough it in the 1950's and the story is set closer to 1850!! That and the fact that no matter what travail she suffers through her clothes are never less than immaculate distract from the story but not enough to ruin the audience's enjoyment.
