A LEGO Brickumentary Reviews
Beyond the Brick is a fascinating look at those adults that have taken Lego to impressive levels of obsession.

While there may be over 900,000,000 ways to fit these blocks together, exercise creativity and have fun A LEGO Brickumentary isn't nearly as inventive as its subject.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Feb 3, 2021
Imagination will overflow as soon as you see it and you'll be surprised to find that it is an eccentric look at the Lego company that informs, is as layered as its bricks, and entertaining without ever becoming boring.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | May 2, 2019
Sturdy, colorful and covering a considerable amount of ground, the film is a fitting vessel for the Lego story that follows a familiar structure, albeit with a extremely clever choice for a guide.

A LEGO Brickumentary is a business move, not a movie.
| Original Score: D+ | Feb 24, 2016
Davidson and Junge's film spends its slightly drawn-out duration tracking and cheering on the splendidly various subcultures of Lego enthusiasts. They make some amazing stuff.

The documentary is so relentlessly upbeat and told with such cheerleading verve, the style and tone detract from the undeniably interesting material.

A Lego Brickumentary is pretty much Exhibit A in empty cinematic calories -- a peppy, eager-to-please offering whose primary audience should be self-selecting.
| Original Score: 4.9/10 | Aug 11, 2015
I'm sure the [LEGO] board of directors loved this.

Diehard Lego fans will enjoy docu about the popular toys.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Aug 7, 2015
It's a good documentary, and it should be a perfect choice when it shows up on your Netflix menu, but it's nowhere near a great one.
| Aug 5, 2015
Probably fine if you're a fan of the toy, and is undoubtedly the bee's knees if you're a shareholder in the company. If not...well, that's another load of bricks altogether.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Aug 5, 2015
Even if you're so spatially challenged that you can't make one Lego brick out of two Lego bricks, you'll find this documentary moderately charming, if self-aggrandizing.

It's a 90-minute, family-friendly infomercial...
| Original Score: 5/10 | Aug 1, 2015
Documentary? Please. This glorified infomercial from directors Kief Davidson and Daniel Junge is indoctrination.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Jul 31, 2015
The film exhibits an oddly promotional tone that might rub audiences wrong if it were hyping any another product.
| Jul 31, 2015
How awesome are LEGO bricks, right? I mean, aren't they the best? If you have even the slightest doubt as to their transcendent superduper-ness, this feature-length infomercial is determined to pound it out of you with a LEGO hammer.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Jul 31, 2015
Even LEGO die-hards will struggle to engage with this snail-paced borderline infomercial.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Jul 31, 2015
The documentary won't make you a fan of Lego, but you will come away knowing that interest in the toy never stops building.
| Original Score: B- | Jul 31, 2015
It does sort of feel like one of those rah-rah corporate promo videos they make you watch on the day you start a new job, but there are some surprises here.
