#Alive Reviews

Led by Yoo Ah-in, #ALIVE begins with his character gaming and enjoying solitude. After a virus mysteriously turns citizens into zombies, everyone's ordered to lockdown at home. But what happens when food runs out and utilities are turned off?

| Original Score: 3/4 | Nov 9, 2024

It does do some cool and interesting things within the zombie genre which makes this more then some B-movie hack job.

| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Aug 17, 2022

This fast-paced Korean thriller proves there are still fresh stories to tell when it comes to the walking dead.

| Original Score: 3.5 / 5 | Nov 13, 2020

Never boring, consistently creepy, and inspires so much more hope than most zombie pictures unleashed on horror fans these days.

| Nov 1, 2020

We're all a bit zombied out these days, but this clever Korean import kept me more than suitably entertained.

Audiences will find themselves frustrated and hopeful for "Oh Joon-woo" as he fumbles his way though attempts at survival.

| Oct 4, 2020

Who knew that zombie films could be as inventive and nerve-wracking as this, despite there not being a dozen characters with backstories to care about?

| Original Score: 4/5 | Oct 2, 2020

#ALIVE plays its setting too safe, and while the end product is certainly watchable, it's ultimately nothing special.

| Oct 1, 2020

It's tight and fast-paced, the characters do a lot with the little space they have, and the action sequences are appropriately tense and disturbing, but there are also a few doses of humor.

Zombie violence, cursing in thrilling Korean horror tale.

| Original Score: 4/5 | Sep 22, 2020

Funny and scary at the same time.

| Sep 19, 2020

There are moments where the potential for something new peeks out from behind the curtain but is quickly pulled back.

| Original Score: B- | Sep 16, 2020

Movies that miss out on unique opportunities are the ones that feel the most boring, because you can't help but imagine what might have been... very little survives scrutiny in #Alive. [Full review in Spanish]

| Original Score: 2/5 | Sep 14, 2020

Thanks to top-notch performances, genuinely gruesome special effects, and a tight script, #Alive manages to overcome genre pitfalls and predictable plot twists and deliver something truly memorable.

| Sep 14, 2020

'#Alive' finds drama and tension within one man's apocalyptic imprisonment while zombies are largely kept locked outside, only posing a threat while society crumbles and we become our worst enemies.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Sep 12, 2020

Given the current time of isolation, #Alive displays it's effectiveness in between the dread in the world of zombies and the decisions to press on

| Sep 12, 2020

Take that mask off, settle in with your quarantine companions, and discover how bad a shelter-in-place order could really get.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Sep 11, 2020

"#Alive" is a nifty little thriller that proves that you can always find signs of life in the most undead of genres.

| Sep 11, 2020

For the most part, and compared to a lot of other zombie apocalypse movies right now, what #Alive offers here is still refreshing. That alone should be enough to warrant this movie a watch.

| Sep 11, 2020

The prosthetics are consistently well-done, the set-pieces are well executed, and even though George A Romero would disapprove of the zombies' lightning reflexes, Max Brooks would be proud of the protagonists' ingenuity.
