All Over Me Reviews
Not enough riot girl far too much stilted dialog.
This could have been one of those horrible boring indie films where youths are horrible to each other and die in stupid ways a la Ken Park. If it were not for the fact this film is actually good. The characters' arcs are emotionally verisimilitudinous, their actions feel true, and the stakes feel real. The film somehow simultaneously lulled me into a false sense of security while keeping me on edge throughout, keeping me interested until the last frame.
A coming of age story focusing on friendship. Story is interesting, but nothing special, good performances from the young cast and an appearance by Leisha Hailey.
Not the best lesbian movie I've seen but by far not the worst!! You can only try so hard and so much till you have no choice but to move on!!
this had felt like "indie-painful" in the first ten minutes of its opening but ok, good that i gave it a fair chance cos it wasn't so bad. quite a sincere effort actually and though not one of those must -sees I'd go round recommending mates, it did 'growing up pains' rather well.
A moving film. Simple as that. It is daringly realistic, particularly innovative in the way it portrays its subject matter, and wonderfully splendid in how the story wraps up with the characters you hate going one way and the characters you like going in the other. This film overtakes the big blockbusters of 1997 and easily beats them out.
Surprisingly well acted and real, this indie movie follows the coming out of a young teenager in rough and tough NYC. Claude (Folland) faces a tough life on New York's mean streets but finds love in the form of Lucy (Hailey). Tender despite its homophobic undercurrent within the plot in the form of her best friend's sociopathic boyfriend, who would fit in equally well in London's East End. I enjoyed the movie, and was rather disappointed when it came to an end. It is well worth a watch.
"All Over Me" was just an overall great film. The main character, played by Alison Folland, did a great job conveying the awkward, somewhat distant, and confusing teenage. I found the scene where Claude is "dancing" to Patti Smith's "Pissing in a River," is very emotional. At that moment is when the audience feels connected to Claude or at least wants to understand her and her pain. After seeing the movie I downloaded the whole soundtrack, which took some digging but totally worth it. Again "All Over Me" is a great film that can be watched over an over again without getting disconnected from it.
Clearly made on a budget of £1.50, the potential of a good story was there but gets lost by the bad acting and an attempt at being a bit art house. It doesn't work. Early appearance by Leisha "Alice" Hailey just about saves it.
Amazing Soundtrack, free flowing coming of age lesbian drama, Allison Folland is terrific, but man that soundtrack is soooooo great.
This is a coming of age drama with a 15 year old girl who is discovering that she is a lesbian. There is some pretty decent acting in this movie including the main actroess Allison Folland who does a pretty good job as confused teen Claude. Cole Hauser is amazing and is really not a very guy and kinda scary in some parts. Nicely directed and a decent story with some plotholes but other than it is a pretty good flick.
Gotta see it 'cause of Leisha Hailey that is my fav character from the L word, very deep and emotional.
