All Over Me Reviews

Despite some pacing problems, Sichel draws first-rate performances from her cast. Credit must also go to screenwriter Sylvia Sichel, Alex's sister, for creating such interesting characters.

Scrupulously realistic and acutely observed.

The movie documents the nuances in girl friendship at a fragile age that sometimes revels in syrupy, afterschool special type drama. But it's a gay, riot grrrl-light teen flick.

Sichel is just great with her cast.

It succeeds beautifully at capturing the inner life of girls.

Its blunt reprocessing of contemporary sacred cows in film realism ... rings false, the work of a user opting out of the imagination business.

Reveals the adolescence most everyone went through (or witnessed) but no one talks about.

A confident first feature.

This is not new territory, but it is a completely new exploration of it.

Alex and Sylvia Sichel have taken a familiar coming-of-age story, something that might work as an Afterschool Special, and given it the contour, grit and white-hot energy of something much more.
