Synopsis
In this documentary, filmmaker Loni Ding examines the various factors that caused Filipinos and Chinese people to immigrate to South and North America in the 18th and 19th centuries. Using new and archival footage from both sides of the world, Ding sets out to debunk myths about early Asian-American settlers and investigates the ways in which these adoptive citizens and their descendants have played integral roles in the history and development of the United States.
