maybe it was the drugs from surgery but i couldnt get into this one. instead check out the writers other film "Headhunters" - much better execution
Fans of Pulp Fiction (overkill violence, absurd parts, twists) may like this movie, but be sure to bring along a subtitle track.
(12%) A Scandinavian movie that is far too clearly influenced by other people's works to even stand a slight chance to make any kind of impact in itself. There's clear borrowings from Shaun of the dead, The usual suspects, with a hint of Tarantino's more comedic elements, only overall not as good as anything it takes its many influences from. The plot along with the lead characters are without question mean-spirited to the core, and nothing is quite funny enough to get past the fact. It's also lazily written and I found it difficult to really care about anything and particularly anyone, and as such I'd advise to give this a miss.
An interesting comic caper from a book by Jo nesbo. Fresh and funny and the lead actor should be a break out star. Its as twisty as Headhunters another Nesbo book movie adaptation
This black comedy is humorous throughout, but it never excels and the story ends up being more predictable than it should have been. The acting seems a bit weak in parts, but the lead character is endearing, there is a good mix of violence and gore, and the slapstick fight scenes are fun to watch.
A Norwegian Reservoir Dogs. Strong acting performances, it will have you gripped and guessing throughout - what more do you want? Ignore the reviews as I am sure you normally do, and watch it. Not one to watch with the girlfriend - this is a movie for the night in alone.
A lighter shade of Scandinavian Noir that's a rather derivative blend of the Coens and Guy Ritchie. Still very good violent fun if you're in the mood.
Tries too hard to be in the vein of Tarantino, not nearly as witty or funny as it thinks it to be. None of the characters feel well drawn, the stakes are low since the script doesn't give the audience any one to care for or even root against. And the plot story is too thin as to keep it interesting enough.
Stylish with a heavy use of flashback to tell the story, this is an average crime thriller with vivid characters and murder scenes.
Scandinavian films are having a high time at the moment and this film is a long long way away from Lars Von Trier or Ignmar Bergman as you could get. Based on the booke by Jo Nesbo this is a jet black comedy with plenty of violence and some laughs as well. Oscar is a factory supervisor in a plastic xmas tree firm which employs ex cons. When three of them decide to place a spread bet on the football Oscar fills in and changes the coupon leading to a big win and plenty of murder and mayhem involving severed heads ,nail guns ,sex dolls and sun beds. The film reminded me of early Guy Ritchie but thanks to the cast and the writing you really cant help laughing your head off at some of the touches on display here. My personal fave is the palstic trees changing colour as the bodies are disposed of in the companies shredder. It may not be the most subtle film but i throughly enjoyed it
Gory crime comedy with a spot-on running time. Just a bit of fun and it knows it. Nowhere near as good as Headhunters though.
Darkly entertaining. Not unlike Shallow Grave or parts of Pulp Fiction and shares some elements with The Usual Suspects. Some memorable characters, even if there is little in the way of character development through the course of the film. An antidote to the wealth of serious minded Scandanavian crime dramas with which we are currently blessed. Well paced, plotted and structured - and it even has a scene with a Moose!
This is the second film I've seen taken from a Jo Nesbo story and I still don't quite get them. The characters are usually quite strange and they find themselves in ridiculous situations which are usually quite funny but events also revolve around a serious crime story. I've never been sure if they are intentionally funny or it's just something that's been lost in translation. Anyhow, this wasn't quite as entertaining as the other Nesbo story I saw last year which was Headhunters but it was worth a one off watch.
