Army Of The Dead Reviews
From the vision of filmmaker Zack Snyder (300, Zack Snyder’s Justice League) comes ARMY OF THE DEAD: a venturous and captivating new spin on the zombie genre with a splash of Oceans Eleven. Gore, comedy, guts, mayhem …& a Zombie Tiger ?!
| Original Score: 7/10 | Jan 29, 2025
Zack Snyder's ridiculously entertaining latest is a zombie heist movie with gore at its core.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Sep 23, 2024
The result is a juvenile, two-and-a-half-hour, overwrought mess that wastes a talented cast in an ugly, CGI-drenched video game pastiche you want to end within a half-hour.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Jul 5, 2024
Aside from the incredible zombie tiger that is highlighted in the trailer, it was disappointing how lacking the creativity was within the design of the film.

Army of the Dead is an algorithmic cleansing exhale in the wake of a whirlwind period in Snyder’s career. As a zombie movie, it’s a shallow, scattershot effort with interesting mythology ideas that don’t really go anywhere.

It has equal amounts of emotion and bloodshed, the cast are on point, the humour is hilarious and both the setting and the plot are undoubtedly unique.

Mixing my two favorite genres,Heist & Zombie horror!!! Snyder infuses his passion and weaves in a touching but badass time. It’s mean, it’s brutal, but it has heart. It’s one of my favorite zombie films in awhile

With his distinct, divisive filmmaking style completely unrestrained, for better or worst, the standout Dave Bautista and his team fight through the cliches, lack of character development, and excessive runtime to still offer plenty of excitement.

Army of the Dead is precisely the kind of cringe-worthy, dull, and uninspired mess Snyder tends to make when there's no one to control him.
| Jul 21, 2023
Army of the Dead is a touch too long, but thanks to aggressive action and a surprisingly touching father-daughter-focused story, Snyder’s zombie epic entertains.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Sep 1, 2022
While Snyder’s obvious creative freedom adds some bloat to the story, you have to love his vision and his commitment to it. And as far as big blockbustery popcorn entertainment goes, Snyder delivers exactly what he promises.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Aug 17, 2022
Turning the volume up on everything you expect from a Zack Snyder film, it would have looked better in a cinema but will become a cult hit for those who cant get enough survival horror.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 2, 2022
Army of the Dead manages to provide ample escapism for a two-and-a-half-hour zombie movie.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Feb 12, 2022
Zack Snyder delivers his zombie heist flick but it falls into predictable pitfalls despite a promising plot.
| Oct 9, 2021
Overblown, dumb, ugly to look at, and doesn't take advantage of the mayhem offered by its setting.

Considering how rewarding the Snyder Cut of Justice League was when unleashed ages ago (actually, in March), I expected more than this.

Enjoyed the group dynamic, violence, world-building, and even the complexity given to the zombies. But I had some issues with the writing including some failed attempts to get me emotionally invested. An okay movie overall.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Aug 15, 2021
Never one for restraint, Snyder gives his trademark maximalism full rein, delivering a bloated 148-minute movie that favours empty spectacle over humanity.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Aug 12, 2021
Snyder is an aggregator of inspirations, unabashedly spring-boarding from the giant canonical zombie and action texts. Snyder is a 'Bro' Poet ("Bro-et"), and I, for one, enjoy his predictable rhymes.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Aug 3, 2021
Even if there's far too much dimly lit zombie massacring, the film's raw materials are solid.
