There are no red telephone boxes, awkward romantics or stiff upper lips here, just a giddy sense of invention, a freshness of perspective, and a deep understanding of cinematic style.

... both far smarter than it looks on the surface, and more indebted to the drive-in horror movie culture than has been acknowledged. Cornish manages the balance well...

An absolute classic. Great humour, tense action, fantastic creature design and a message. What more can you ask for?

A low-budget firecracker that's as adept at tackling social issues as it is at providing sci-fi thrills.

'Attack The Block' was the little film from 2011 that could've but didn't.

A unique and innovative take on the alien invasion scenario, this film mixes humor and horror to relate it's tale of misfit kids and malevolent monsters.

Attack the Block makes the most of its budget while creating a near-exemplary study in pace, humor, and spurts of gore.

tightly executed in almost every capacity. The pacing is spot on, it is tense as hell, you can feel the energy on screen, and though it isn't an overtly political story, there is an underlying social commentary found in the best science fiction.

Stands on its own two feet amongst the usual Brit comedy suspects, which is largely due to its cast of unknowns.

Look, this is a nicely performed film which is kept quick and tight, but for a comic horror it's just not funny or horrifying enough.

Boyega couldn't have picked a better debut; Cornish created a film that busts out of the grimy estate kitchen sink drama that has made up a large proportion of British cinema for a long time.

Every Hollywood screenwriter should be tied to a chair and forced to watch this.
