Critics Consensus

Exuberant and eye-popping, Avengers: Age of Ultron serves as an overstuffed but mostly satisfying sequel, reuniting its predecessor's unwieldy cast with a few new additions and a worthy foe.

Dwight Brown National Newspaper Publishers Association There is little in this film that is new, but that doesn't matter. The characters are still entertaining, the action scenes thrilling and near orgasmic, and the human relationships touching. Mar 7, 2017 Full Review Jason Bailey DVDTalk.com Several thrilling action sequences, a great many good jokes, and an unshakable sense that everybody is just going through the paces. May 28, 2016 Full Review Leonard Maltin leonardmaltin.com Joss Whedon set a higher bar with the first "Avengers" (2012) and tried, in many ways, to top it here. He got close... May 5, 2015 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies I ate up the funny banter between each unique superhero personality. I loved the large-scaled action which seemed ripped straight from the pages of a comic book. I was interested in the future movie tablesetting. Rated: 4/5 Aug 19, 2022 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Raising the stakes and swinging for the fences like a good film sequel should, Joss Whedon pays off the Phase 2 initiative with both a new level of groundbreaking effort and a continued dedication to the master blueprint of a grander big picture. Aug 14, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review If there's anything really wrong with Age of Ultron, it's the degree to which it leaves you yearning for more. Mei The film delivers exciting action sequences, including the Hulk vs. Iron Man fight (Hulkbuster Some jokes didnt land well, making Ultron seem less meaningfull. Overall, its a solid Marvel movie but often considered weaker than the first Avengers film and Infinity War. If you enjoy superhero action and character moments, youll probably like it, but its not the best in the series. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review Jesse T Out of all of the films in the MCU, this happens to be my favorite of them all. It’s not perfect but it’s perfect to me. This movie’s villain and the movie itself is so underrated and is hated only because it’s cool to hate it. The film also has so much symbolism in it that no one even talks about. It’s still wild to me. It is a beautiful work of art and I’d say it’s even better than the first one. Not to mention there are SIX fight scenes in the movie. That’s more than any of the other avengers films. They definitely did a lot with this one and it deserves so much more praise than what it has. Anyway. It’s a must a see. Thank you for making this gem. Love it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/24/25 Full Review Michael Karvelis I was so disappointed in this. Ultron was not intimidating. The introduction of the twins was boring. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/24/25 Full Review Nerd W Not quite as good as expected for an avengers movie but well worth the watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/21/25 Full Review Max H This film is a great sequel to the first movie. It has so much volume, and almost brings the characters to life. I definitely recommend, would also watch again. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review M B Absolutely awful movie and plot, terrible. And I liked the first Avengers and I loved Infinity war!
