Awaydays Reviews
One critic called Kevin Sampson's excellent novel "Catcher in the Rye with stanley knives" this film adaptation is more like Brokeback Mountain with stanley knives and an excellent soundtrack. It really is so homoerotic. I expected Elvis to pork Carty. If you need any evidence of them been trapped in the closet then the scene where they pick up the two shanks on the bus is all the evidence you need. Plus, the jealous head and bitchy antics of the Elvis the following matchday. Budget definitely hindered the final product but overall a poor adaptation of a good book but the soundtrack, Stephen Graham and some ultraviolence makes it watchable.
Honestly the worst film I have ever seen ( not just saying that ) it is absolutely terrible ! Never going to get back that hour and a half of my life so don't bother attempting to watch ! Everyone involved should be ashamed !
another film on football hooliganism and another poor one. Honestly, not every fan in 1979 wore their scarf on their wrists and had a fight. Disappointing.
Dunno what to say about this apart from the Interesting early 80's soundtrack. Also it kind of romanticizes the days when it was ok to smoke in pubs, on trains etc. . . . . and it wern't that long ago. Modern life seems kind of sterile after watching this.
great film, I thought it was a good movie, it was something like Green Street, it was a good movie but I don't want it on DVD, good movie it was better than what I expected
Typically english movie about a group of lads who thrive on going to away football matches and getting into fights Work through the week and bcom a different set of people on the weekend. Very much football factory of Gree days, see if you like either. Not allot to plot, drugs, boe and fighting.
As being a fan of the whole 70's football scene I expected to like this movie. It's easy to sit and watch but the story jumps here and there and start to lose track. The low budget aspect that sometimes works in a movies favour definately didn't in my opinion. All in all it satisfied my interest in the genre but it wasn't a movie that give me any wow! factor. Middle of the road.
I've seen a ton of these at this point. The football gang movies. The realization that you have to get out and leave the old life behind in order to progress. This one's better than some, worse than others.
I dunno, on one hand it seemed like some guys chance to be as pretentious as possible but on the other it was raw and gritty which I loved. However, the story was a bit all over the place and seemed a bit pointless. It was more showing the fashions of the time (hence the pretentiousness). The acting was sound though and it had a killer soundtrack. Scousers might enjoy it more, I dunno!
The fight scenes are well shot, the story surrounding them is less engaging and takes a lot of time to get going.
Good movie around the footy violence of the late 70s,not a patch on the firm with Gary Oldman but worth a watch
ja mislija navijacki film...a ono ispa samo tuzna gay prica o liku koji samo oce ic u berlin i slusat bowiea :D nije los aj,mjuza nadoknaduje mnoge nedostatke...
cheaply made but has something more than the usual footie hooligan film that of the odd friendship of the 2 main leads. Worth a watch.
Disappointing. Yah it's gritty, the sound track is fantastic but it's too slow, disjointed and all over the place.
