Bad Education Reviews
This movie was so much fun to watch, and its story was really whacky and compelling. I definitely recommend it for drama fans!
Turned it off after bout 20 minutes when the widowed school superintendent meets a former student who is bartending and takes him home for some man on man action. That is a far as I got.Turned it off. They left out that little nugget in the description of the movie.Maybe they say down and watched "broke back mountain".
Hugh's acting convinces you so well
A very entertaining, well-acted movie but essentially a cover up of the real reasons for the destruction of public education. Companies essentially no longer pay property taxes and homeowners are being blackmailed into higher taxes. There’s no reason these issues couldn’t have been addressed. Instead it’s left on the level of personal corruption. Also, the state of public education isn’t really comedic, is it.
I would say worth a watch. Top performance from Hugh per usual
Prepare for some bad education, with some morally corrupt teachers! As a high school superintendent falls under scrutiny for embezzling funds from the budget, a massive cover-up is underway but there are still some co-conspirators hiding in plain sight. Biting humor and impressive acting make this true-crime comedy an enjoyable watch, despite the reprehensible things that the characters do!
Great movie, can’t believe that’s all they got for doing such a horrible crime over such a long period of time! Crazy to think what people will do.
Very interesting film, great acting, well worth watching!
Really interesting film. Extremely well directed and acted. Great music. Really well done!
Entertaining, funny movie based on a true story. Jackman & Janney are excellent.
Not a comedy. Hugh Jackman and Janie are exceptional. A bit one dimensional. Without the two lead actors it wouldn't be much of a movie. Dull story.

The ravers are right with this one. Hugh Jackman is excellent as superintendent Frank Tassone in this retelling of a real life scandal where a prestigious public school district suffers and embezzlement scandal. And Allison Janney adds to its strong cast. It's pacing is deliberate and considered, as all the best introspective dramas are.
The first 30 mins is painfully bad (way too much irrelevant drivel) and I only stayed with it because of the reviews. That said, I would say in the end it was just about worth staying with once the story started unfolding.
3.25 Kind of boring. Would've worked better with some more comedy in it and faster pacing IMO.
A real "wolves in sheep's clothing" tale, Bad Education spins an impressive web of a story that is told with flowing ease led by amazing performances from its lead characters. Not all of its subplots receive the same treatment and closure, but ultimately, this is an incredibly satisfying and different big crime in a small town movie that I think has a massively broad appeal.
It was okay but just another movie about greedy people. Not very uplifting.
Wish it played in the moral grey area for a little longer, where we weren't yet aware of his theft of public funds but of hers. Where he seemed to be trying to protect a friend and his school while putting himself on the firing line. That said, beautifully executed movie with the time it had to tell, gut wretching and leaves an impact!
really really good. Well acted, Well paced, and the narrative arc unfolded in a way that surprised me without leaving me feeling manipulated. Based on a true story, it drove me to research the primary sources. Bravo!
The excellent cast is what primarily made me decide to see this Emmy Award winning made for television movie. The movie tells the story of the largest public school embezzlement in history and does so fairly well. I do not think "Bad Education" is a great movie, but it is worth seeing at least once due to the very good performances by the entire cast. Hugh Jackman is very good in his Emmy nominated role as Dr. Frank Tassone. Academy Award winner Allison Janney is also very good as Tassone's partner in crime Pam Gluckin. The movie does have its problems however. The story is told in a formulaic manner. When Roslyn High School student Rachel Kellog starts to suspect wrongdoing in the school district, she is is discouraged from pursuing the story by her peers and school officials. When that does not work, Tassone and Gluckin threaten her and then say she could destroy the reputations of good people if she is wrong. This is something we have seen many times before so I found it rather boring. Also when the scandal is finally made public we have the scenes of people being lead away in handcuffs and police searching boxes. Again, nothing we have not seen before. In the end "Bad Education" is a good movie that is worth seeing once mostly for the terrific cast.
