Boys and Girls Reviews

Mar 1, 2025

Filme fraco, o roteiro é ruim, as cenas foram fracas, mesmo com a presença do protagonista freddie prince jr, o elenco não ajudou em nada, e a história é ruim.

I actually think it was ahead of its time.

Cheeseburger. With extra cringe. Claire Forlani's character was really unlikeable for me. (Also, this is a poorly named movie; sounds like it's about a group of young people, but it's really just about the main couple- the others are barely necessary. I feel like they just went with the working title.)

"Boys and Girls" is a film about a boy named Ryan who meets a girl, Jennifer, on an airplane when both are young. We then see the older Ryan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and the older Jennifer (Claire Forlani) meet several years later. At first, it doesn't seem that they get along too well, but when they get to college, they become friends and it appears they might be something more. Ryan dates Jennifer's roommate (Amanda Detmer) for a bit, but Jennifer is given the task of breaking up with Ryan on her roommate's behalf, unaware that Ryan is the guy her friend has been dating. There is a weird moment when Ryan blinds himself as Jennifer is doing deed, and from that moment, a complicated relationship has developed between the two. "Boys and Girls" isn't a great film by any means, but I think it is enjoyable for what it is. There isn't much substance but it is a cute story with cute leads. The film also stars Jason Biggs as Ryan's buddy.

Honestly, it's a film for people who stay up at night watching random rom-coms about implausible and unrealistic love. Is the acting amazing? No. Is it well written? Not really. But it's still enjoyable as a rom-com for single people who want to believe in love. I'd watch it if you like that sort of thing.

I don't care what anyone says, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The character development was great. Jason Biggs did an awesome job of portraying what a lot of guys go thru. The relationship between the 2 main characters is complicated and entertaining as the film progresses. The scenery/filmography was so good I feel inspired to visit the filming locations. I love the way everyone was dressed. And it captures the innocence of the 90s. 5 Stars

I don't know why I ended up watching this film. I knew it would be bad, but I went and watched it regardless. Now I'm sitting here with nothing positive to say, and the guilty feeling of writing a bad review. The film attempts to create a funny, but darker romantic comedy for the Prince Jnr market. The film never develops into anything of interest, and the characters don't have a great connection. The filmmakers miss a chance to create interesting characters, but they throw that to the side with developing Biggs. The best scene for Biggs is the final scene in the credits, but even that showcases the filmmakers weren't sure of the audience for the film. This could have been a better film had the filmmakers focused on cleaning up the humour and focusing on the core story. 12/01/2019.

Was he wearing braces for 5+ years?

This is a way better movie than Robert Iscove's previous outing, She's All That. It's really shocking that just a year later, he can release an honestly pretty good movie, if it wasn't for the unoriginal writing and story! I pretty much liked everything but that writing! Not to say the writing was that bad, because it wasn't awful. This is an overall surprisingly good movie, not that it's great or anything, but I'd definitely watch it again, and I'm honestly a little shocked, and confused, at why it has an 11% on Rotten Tomatoes. I guess critics really couldn't put up with the unoriginalness. Also, there's a very funny scene during the credits. (While the credits are rolling.)

It was alright, not as romantic as implied.

The idea has worked before, but not in this film.

Cheesy, believable, fun This movie promotes no new ideas and is unoriginal for the most part but don't let this deter you from enjoying it. Freddie is a likable character that broke up with his girlfriend. His main objective is to find true love and he befriends a woman with completely opposite views. Add a socially and romantically awkward Jason Biggs and you have a fun story. Definitely a funny and tasteful film.

More serious than you think you'd get

And my viewing of random rom-coms continues. This one was better than expected. Forlani is particularly good and her and Prinze Jr have great chemistry. Jason Biggs adds some humour.

Not bad. Predictable, but still watchable.

This is one of those lame coming of age feel good films where love conquers everything. It has one redeeming feature, the scene where the heroine's boyfriend dumps her by performing a new song = "Jennifer I have found someone new" whilst she is sitting in the audience - close to the coolest dump technique ever

What a great romantic comedy. Course it's predictable.

Should friendship stage to romance? Not as good as When Harry Met Sally, moved up from 1989 to 2000, with the screenplay dumbed down. Cinematography: 8/10 Good, but not exceptional. Sound: 8/10 Good, but not exceptional. Acting: 5/10 Again comparing to When Harry Met Sally, Freddie Prinze and Claire Forlani are not nearly as good as Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. The supporting cast is not as strong. Jason Biggs is particularly weak. Screenplay: 4/10 This is about 15 minutes of plot spread over 94 minutes. All the Jason Biggs scenes could be omitted without loss.

Not as good as She's all that
