Cath Clarke Guardian [A] solidly acted but underwhelming post-apocalyptic thriller. Rated: 2/5 May 14, 2024 Full Review A.A. Dowd IGN Movies The movie feels pared down to a fault, resolving its conflicts too quickly and failing to ever take the shape of a coherent allegory. It’s proof that shorter isn’t always better, even in the realm of self-contained genre fare. Rated: 5/10 Apr 29, 2024 Full Review Justin Kim Loud and Clear Reviews Breathe (2024) brings in an interesting premise but isn’t interested in crafting anything memorable out of it, with disjoined emotional arcs and awkward acting. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 6, 2025 Full Review John Serba Decider Just as the lack of air will kill a person, the lack of sense will kill a movie. Sep 11, 2024 Full Review Cris Kennedy Inner East Review It's a pity the screenplay by Doug Simon doesn't quite get the tone right, spending a lot of time establishing the supportive family environment when we can all see what's coming a mile off. Rated: 2/5 Aug 20, 2024 Full Review Tara McNamara Common Sense Media But while the movie's concept is solid and the cinematography is rich, something is off. Dan B Just another Covid movie, with minimal actors and not much of a plot. It needed some zombies to liven it up. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/19/25 Full Review Andrew Joe D Bad acting and bad writing. Horrible dialogue and community theater actors. Cinematography is okay, but otherwise such an awful flick. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/01/25 Full Review Billy B The opening scene is visually compelling and makes you think the rest of the movie will be as good. There is a lot of good photography and I would say that the post apocalyptic view of the world is very realistic and well-shot. Unfortunately most everything else about this movie is enticing and interesting, after which it rapidly falls apart. I won't give away elements of the plot here but there are some pieces that are frankly ridiculous. There are some thrilling standoffs between people with guns not knowing what the other people's intentions are, but they cascade into horrible mediocrity. The sci fi elements are sort of at Dr Who level. I really wanted to like this but it kept failing me like a bad boyfriend. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/25/25 Full Review janet b This is truly a great story. It made me so appreciative of the life threatening work ordinary everyday people do on our behalf - not your average job sitting behind a computer. These divers put their lives on the line every outing and it shows the effects upon spouses. The cast is very good and the underwater filming is great. Both me and my husband really liked it and I left knowing alot more about underwater pipelines. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Colin C This is not a big budget hollywood sci-fi movie. This smartphone generation lack the patience & urge to absorb the plot & characters. The acting is pretty solid & the message is clear : Trust. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/25 Full Review Mark B Pretty tight drama in a post apocalyptic setting. You have to suspend belief with some of the plot holes. You can do worse in a 90 minute movie.
