Bright Reviews
Bright is certainly an attractive prospect given the talent involved, but Ayer's aggressive and ultramasculine perspective feels tired and, perhaps, outdated.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Mar 16, 2022
Bright is dedicated to using promising ideas in the least imaginative ways possible.

It has a great premise, but execution is extraordinarily clumsy. It is far from the worst film of the year as many have said, but it isn't a magnificent, enlightened, and socially conscious piece of cinema it pretends to be either.

There is much left to be desired here.

Incredibly derivative and practically unwatchable.

Even through its narrow plot and lack of inventiveness, Bright still manages to be just entertaining and striking enough to stand on its own as a showy, harsh action romp. Expect no surprises, though.
| Original Score: 5/10 | Oct 24, 2019
There's a clunkiness to Bright; this awkward and misshapen quality that is corny and hard to swallow but something about crime being intertwined with fantasy and prejudice works really well in today's day and age.

They end up drawing a lot of attention to the questionable design of the creatures, to the point that I was almost waiting for the actors to laugh. [Full Review in Spanish]

'Bright' may not be perfect. It may be "just" one more blockbuster whose only vocation is to offer two hours of pure and hard amusement. [Full Review in Spanish]

Bright feels like an ambitious experiment with a noble subtext, which could easily have been made with entirely human characters. Perhaps then it might have felt less laboured and contrived.

BRIGHT has issues and does get mired in some narrative and pacing issues, but overall this is a film that is far more fun and enjoyable than half of the movies released in theaters in 2017. That alone makes it a success.

A pretty straight retread of Ayer's previous gang-banging work -- even recycling the absolute worst bit of Training Day.

Bright is an absurd and dump movie. But it's also a fun attempt to modernize fantasy tropes with buddy cop comedy. [Full review in Spanish]

...there's a bunch of shooting and stabbing, explosions, and general bloodiness. It's all very dark (literally) and -- I imagine for the non-geeky -- Bright is as hard to follow as it is to see.

Bright succeeds with its ideas but fails with its execution.
| Original Score: 4/10 | Dec 21, 2018
is a hybrid story -- urban fantasy with social commentary -- in which its differents parts never fit together and that never decides which way to go. [Full review in Spanish]

Bright is a flat, generic action film lacking in suspense with a racial allegory that is as off the mark as one can get.
| Original Score: 1.5/5 | Oct 30, 2018
It's perfectly happy in being a big budgeted action flick... but it doesn't have the goofy swagger of Men in Black, nor the grittiness of End of Watch, and ends up just wallowing without saying much.

Even with an interesting premise, the film never fully capitalizes on its potential and we're left with nothing but a boring film.

This movie has heart, promise from the very beginning, well-delivered dialogue and stellar, emotional performances from Smith and Edgerton, with laugh-out-loud lines thrown in for sometimes-needed comic relief.
