Butcher's Crossing Reviews
I had little to no expectations going into this movie, and with that, I was pleasantly surprised. Still not a great movie nor a masterpiece, however it was good and really intense. I recommend it!
I was hoping that Cage could use this Character to create a different feel from him. unfortunately he's the regular Nick Cage with a shaved head. without giving too much away, they're stuck in a brutal winter in the middle of nowhere for 8 months, and the movie spends about 20 minutes on this 8 month survival. The upsetting part is to find out the millions of American bison that were nearly pushed to extinction during this part of the nation's history.
Beautifully shot. Well acted by Nic Cage. Good watch
This movie could have been premiered on regular television
It was sad and boring.
i didn't care for the movie-Love Nicholas Cage but the story was boring and the end was pointless.
Butcher's Crossing is a film about greed, waste, and madness. A story that needs to be told even though it can be unsettling at times. The acting is great and the landscapes are beautiful to look at. The only reason I'm not giving Butchers Crossing 5 stars is because it's very slow moving and at times it dragged to a crawl. Not very much action in this movie but nonetheless it's a worthy addition to Nick Cage’s filmography!
The plot never developed.
It was really boring. Beautiful scenery and filmed well. Just not much action and the flashbacks and dreams were strange.
Good story and nice pacing. Cinematography was beautiful and the actors did a great job with their characters.
Enjoyed the movie so much I had to leave a review. Ultimately what stood out was the excellent cinematography and direction. Watching “Butcher’s Crossing” felt familiar and new at the same time, like watching a new release of an independent movie from the 70s, the kind no studio is willing to invest in anymore. It was the same feeling when I happened to see “Open Range” purely by chance when it first came out. I wasn’t looking for a “western” then or now but was pleasantly surprised for all the same reasons. When seeing a movie starring Nicolas Cage, one wonders which Nic is going to show up. This time he’s the “simply a good actor” Nic though my partner thought he pushed it a bit much (I disagree). It’s also not a traditional western yet has all the usual trappings (wide-eyed kid, crazy old guy, heart-of-gold prostitute, etc). Under 30? You probably won’t like it. Older? Yeah, it’s a good movie with popcorn and a drink. Sit back and enjoy it.
