Calendar Girls Reviews
Sort of funny, but so nevrotic
A cute movie. Kinda disappointed, would of liked to have seen more dancing.
It's a good fun watch, but I think the storytelling could be tighter. Love that this actually happened! The sense of community is established early on, and holds well throughout the film. A great cast does a brilliant job
Once you get beyond the shock value there isn't much here.
It was slow at first but when the story started unfolding (no pun intended) it actually became an engaging tale of woman empowerment and friendship. A good watch
A humorous and clever take on some of the stricter sides of British society. Mirren and Walters do their roles justice and the character development is absolutely superb with multiple subplots unfolding in relation to the main calendar. Overall the team dynamic is fleshed out really well and besides a few awkward moments here and there, this film is a smash.
A witty script accompanied by solid performances all around make this film worth watching alone. The fact that this story is true makes it even more intriguing! 3.5/5 stars
Moms stripping for charity, the trouble it brings and the friendship that gets put to the test. Brilliantly portrayed.
This movie has certainly stood the test of time, although 2003 is hardly ancient history, being only 14 years ago (I am writing as of August 15, 2017). I still love this film!
Story/Screenplay: (3.5/5) A light comedy that is subtle in it delivery. It's worth a few chuckles. Duration/Tempo: (3/5) A 1 hour and 48 minute movie that felt the same. Didn't feel long. Cast & Crew: (3.5/5) Julie Walters and Helen Mirren are very likable and engaging. Summary: (3.5/5) Not my cup of tea, but still worth seeing. A weak thumbs up.
Works as a semi-docudrama - or a docu-comic - to spread the story and the contained message to its target audience, while backed-up by a nice cast and supported by the charms and laughs they bring. (B) (Full review coming soon)
Julie Walters is BRILLIANT, displaying a wide range of emotions throughout. That being said, why didn't they advertise for a FEmale photographer?
Schmaltzy Christmas charm. A chocolate box movievbut with heart and some great actresses. Perfect Dec 25 viewing.
