What to Know

Critics Consensus

With plenty of pulpy action, a pleasantly retro vibe, and a handful of fine performances, Captain America is solidly old-fashioned blockbuster entertainment.

Nerd W Great movie but I wish we got more World War Cap. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/21/25 Full Review Mark L I found the movie weak and poorly written with more focus on CGI fights than relevant details. The one that most disturbs me is how Captain America can operate outside of the government with no SHIELD or Stark funding, while the guy is working on a counselor’s salary. Ooops, pretty important gap to overlook. Things have really gone south since the Avengers started. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review Jone L Chris Evans is made for this role Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/12/25 Full Review Cole G A solid introduction to Steve Roger’s! The first 45 minutes of this movie are great and the origin of Cap is so different which adds a sense of intrigue. Bucky and Caps relationship is really great and seeing him try to help Steve meet people and really guide him in the right direction is cool. The whole movie has a very different feel to it with this World War ll setting and it does help it feel new compared to the rest of the universe. I think the action also has a fun flare to it while feeling kind of similar at the same time. Finally for the positives, Peggy and Steve’s relationship in this really carries the emotional weight of the movie and is the main reason for why the ending works so well. However, the move does drag a little and Red Skull is a pretty generic and boring villain that isnt terrible, but just doesn’t add anything either. 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/12/25 Full Review Ian H Liked the superhero in history vibe. Good fun film without to much flag waving baloney Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/09/25 Full Review Paul S This was such a great movie! I love how the movie blended superhero action with historical World War II combat. I definitely recommend it for superhero fans! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/25/25 Full Review Read all reviews
