Chill Factor Reviews
…as an accidental comedy, Chill Factor has plenty to offer slumming cineastes, with weak, colourless leads, a slavering, snarling villain, and some ludicrous but entertaining action scenes…

It doesn't bother me too much that this is silly; like everyone else in the theater, I'm here for the thrills. But Chill Factor doesn't let me have any with my brain.

This dull and uninspiring mess has very little to offer other than an unoriginal idea in an under-utilised setting.

This is a cookie-cutter buddy movie, as predictable as they come.

Surprise, surprise -- as Identikit film-making goes, this is glossy, sharp and alarmingly enjoyable stuff.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jun 11, 2013
As an unintentional send-up of the predictability and wretchedness of modern action-comedies, Chill Factor is hilarious. Sadly, however, no one involved seems to realize the silliness and transgressive stupidity of its sub-direct-to-video-thriller script.

Nobody questions this logic, but then there are a lot of logical gaps in this movie.

Gooding possesses so much boundless energy that he practically dares you not to care, not to get involved, not to root for his success.

The stunt work is pretty good, the brain work close to nonexistent.

Each and every action scene is stolen from some other movie.

The atmosphere is winning, with the odd felicity peppering the journey with gags and groans.

We've been here before and it's been done better, much better.

Willful suspension of disbelief won't do it.

Blends lousy screenwriting with a totally ridiculous premise, and flavors it lovingly with unrealistic situations and unfathomable directing choices.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Feb 8, 2003
Neither Ulrich's brooding intensity nor Gooding's funky panic act (he whines throughout the stunt work) add much to the enterprise.

It's toxic, all right.
| Original Score: 3/10 | Nov 5, 2002
Its visual thrills and solid performances combine to make it an above average film treat.
