Broken Lizard's Club Dread Reviews
This is my favorite Broken Lizard film. If you are a fan of '80s slashers, you will love this movie.
Cheesy, but not too bad. If you're looking for a cheesy comedy-horror film, this is not too bad.
Woefully underrated movie.
One of my all time favorite movies. First time I watched this I thought it was absolutely terrible. Years later I realized it was absolutely perfect all the way through.
This movie is a masterpiece; a perfect blend of campy 80's-style horror flick mixed with Broken Lizard's inside joke humor. This is a classic in my house and has been seen again and again, often singing the songs for days after.
Oh yes, it's a very poor film, but it's shot well and chock full of tattoo-free dream girls. Also, Bill Paxton and a few other welcome side-characters.
This movie was so dumb and boring, I wanted to turn it off the whole time, it's actually shocking these guys were allowed to make any movies after this dud, Not a single laugh I can recall, If someone offered me $100 to watch it again I would say NO!
It's always amazed me that the Broken Lizard guys followed up Super Troopers with a slasher, but even though this isn't it great, it kind of made me respect them even more. Instead of doing what was expected or easy, they went their own way. Just off Costa Rica lies Coconut Pete's (BIll Paxton!?!) Pleasure Island, a place where the washed-up musician can get his fans to visit for all-inclusive vacations. Yet as the staff does what one does in a slasher — head to the woods to have sex — they have what happens to people who have sex in a slasher happen to them. They die. I mean, this movie is such a slasher that one of the past people who went insane on the island and killed everyone was tricked into having sex with a corpse, which is very Terror Train. The main problem I have with this film is that it goes on way too long and there are long stretches where it seems like we're just waiting around. Yet the more I think about it, the more I kind of like it, as what other movie would have a knife-brandishing killer in robes on a jungle island suddenly be attacked by a powerful tennis serve?
The typical Broken Lizard humor. If you are a fan of Super Troopers and Beer Fest then this 2004 Broken Lizard film is just another one of the films of films you should definitely see. The characters and story are just one of the stings that make Broken Lizard ...Broken Lizard comedy! Grab the Popcorn, snack, and drinks. Pull up a chair and get ready to laugh.
A bland but entertaining schlock This Comedy while it doesn't deserve the reviews it got back in the day but it's also a decent if over long parody
This silly horror film spoof by Broken Lizard comedy troupe (best known for Super Troopers) is kinda funny at times, but overall a dud. I thought one of the funnier parts is Bill Paxton's character getting upset at a guest shouting her request that he play 'Margaritaville', to which he bristles and replies, "I think what you mean is my hit Pina Coladaburg, which was written 7 ½ years before" or something along those lines. Of course, this song forms part of the soundtrack.
What an effing PoS movie this was. Sexist, racist and all the other ists on the list. It makes me so sad that Bill Paxton made this movie.
Horror /comedy that fails to have a drop of ether.
I always remember this as the least funny of the Broken Lizard movies but it had been 10 to 15 years since I last watched and figured it was time for another go. Bill Paxton is the most memorable. Still my least favorite, but still funny enough. 5.5/10
Hilarious movie...don't listen to the critics, you will enjoy this. IMO it is Broken Lizard's finest effort.
