Crazy, Stupid, Love. Reviews
Some of the messages are less than good, but if you can get past them, this is a charming, funny, and surprisingly deep movie.
Of the three words of this title, only stupid is thr best descriptor unfortunately. It’s talented cast can’t make up for it’s pointless, predictable and inane (i.e. stupid) script.
It might be the most enjoyable rom-com of all time. Incredible cast, every character is so dang adorable and the direction is seemingly flawless. It’s a must watch for anybody with a pulse haha
First of all this movie has an amazing cast and Steve Carrel and Ryan Gosling work really well together. Very funny and sweet at the same time. Story takes a hit near the end but overall it is still very enjoyable. Worth watching.
With a pitch-perfect cast, superb mix of romance and comedy and a surprisingly clever script, Crazy, Stupid, Love does have some aspects that could have been sharpened further, but this is a romcom that stays engaging throughout mostly due to some actual substance within its story and characters that are interesting to watch.
I don’t understand why people enjoy this movie so much. I guess the casting but it’s just so contrived. If your wife cheats on you that’s it. Don’t go back. Keep your kids close but that’s irredeemable and unforgivable and she’s suddenly mad when he adopts the same philosophy. Ryan gosling is probably the only character that grows. He goes from being a player to seeing how hollow sleeping around is. He’s like a reverse hitch that Vance from hitch would actually want to learn from whereas hitch actually tried to create the opportunity for people who actually wanted relationships. Ryan’s character realizes it’s empty and wants to settle down because he finds out what actually matters and Steve’s character would really never be able to accept his daughter marrying a guy he’s seen take dozens of women home in the short time he’s known him. That’s his daughter and it’s disgusting knowing she’d be with a guy like that but I guess he accepts it when he realizes what he’s done and still wants to be back with his wife which he should’ve never gotten back with. Stay together for the kids I guess. The son’s character is disposable and really sad, it should’ve been removed from the movie but I guess they wanted the teen audience to buy tickets too. The kid actually thinking he had a real shot with that girl at that time in his life is just weird but I guess relatable to a few. You should just try when you’re older and have something to offer before you try to get an older girl. I dated an older girl in high school but only because she was into me and if I’d sensed any resistance I would’ve backed off because it would be in vane. The girl was clearly not interested and his attempts were futile and embarrassing and him being upset at his father was just stupid. Essentially the son took himself too seriously and thought he was an adult when he’s still a child. I guess that was the goal of the movie but it spends the first half glorifying certain behaviors and the latter half displaying why those behaviors are bad and lead to bad things. If the story was tweaked I could see this movie working better but Emma stone is marrying the guy out of spite essentially because the Josh groban character was too career focused or something and that’s just a strange way to chose your spouse. “We’re gonna bang!” Their first date is cute and goes well but the fact that it started because she just wanted an easy lay out of spite makes it come off strange and it gets glossed over because it’s Ryan gosling and he’s not an average Joe. I know so many people that like this movie but it just bothered me.
Crazy Stupid Love is the perfect definition of a romantic comedy and for sure a great comfort movie. The film is protagonized by Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling (a great duo), Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon and more. They all share a lot of quemistry and the film is funny and enjoyable all the way through.
I loved it! I started watching romcom genre thanks to this movie. Such beautifully crafted relationships that are much fun at the same time. What can I say about the cast? Amazing actors and actresses. I enjoyed all the movie. Love is complicated, and this movie knows perfectly how to show it. Close up plans of Ryan Gosling eating a pizza, a great plot twist and a beautiful under the rain scene. What else can I ask for?
I'm shocked this movie is not in the 90% range for both Tomatometer and ESPECIALLY Popcornmeter. It's one of my all-time favorites. It's a brilliant script, hilarious at times, touching at times, and it contains my absolute favorite scene in all movies. Love can be crazy, love can be stupid, but love is love. If you love someone, you have your reasons and you can't help it.
Not bad but dunno about all the sleeping around... cute little comedy in some ways but ...
The movie explores the fragility of love across different stages of life, from youth to middle age. It illustrates that even when striving to be the best version of yourself, you may still face the repercussions of others’ actions. Cal Weaver, the devoted husband, and Emily Weaver, his emotionally conflicted wife, ultimately rediscover forgiveness and rekindle their love, despite their own questionable choices. The playboy Jacob Palmer, idolized by men as a symbol of dominance over women; the wholesome, PG-13 girl Hannah, who seeks a more serious man; the bold Robbie Weaver, who believes in true love; the confused Jessica Riley, who appreciates an older and kind man—all of them, along with the other characters, come together to form a comedic love story that explores the naughty and lustful experiences we fantasize about. However, it's important to remember that this is a fantasy. If these scenarios were to play out in the real world, they would have serious repercussions and consequences in the present day (2025).
Steve Cartfulofshit can't act. Please stop making movies with him.
It's a good movie but it misses the mark to be more memorable that it is.
A new rom-com twist. Great performances by Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell. It keeps you guessing for most of the run time, with some very funny bits. As always you are asked to suspend disbelief with the corny public romantic speeches. Best the first time through.
One of the best Romantic Comedies ever made! Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling make the oddest pairing but it works so fantastically well. They steal the show! Movie will leave you in stitches from start to finish!
All my homies hate David Lindhagen! A polished iteration of the rom-com at the tail end of the genre’s prime period that maxes out the number of popular white actors that can be included, before it becomes a bloated mess like “Valentine’s Day”. The quality of the actors does not affect their quantity, as the top-billing cast are all rom-com veterans, allowing them all to deliver performances perfectly in-line with the film’s tone. It has aspects that are already aging poorly, with the most disgusting being the exchange of nudes between minors that is somehow played as a joke or a bittersweet moment? Disturbing scene aside, this film is one of the best and most iconic rom-coms of its decade due to its ability to balance the classic sappy love messaging with skepticism, prevalent in films released in the 2010s.
Nearly Perfect. Great performances.
What an amazing soundtrack! Thievery Corporation? Are you kidding me? Such a genius move. Really put a smile on my face .
I laughed a lot while watching this movie
