This movie is such a classic. And so awesome I think I've rewatched it at least 5 times. Of course the critics and audience scores are completely different. And the people with bad reviews on it have the weirdest takes. One guy asked who writes letters too each other. Well ya see jr. back in time before text messages and cell phones, we'd write letters to our lovers because we were thinking of them and wanted to tell them so. Yes love letters were a thing in the time this movie takes place. Smh kids.

Love this movie so much! The performances by the whole cast is brilliant, these roles were meant for them. Sarah is shockingly perfect as the evil and manipulative step sister Katherine and Ryan as Sebastian is great as the sarcastically evil/funny step brother who's grown bored of their games. I watch the movie yearly. Watching the 2024 show just made me want to watch original movie again, the movie is 10× better.

Sumptuously shot & quite well acted. Fun opening to draw in the audience. But after a while the story just started ambling around and lacked tension. Too much time spent on scenes that didn't drive the plot. Perhaps the director thought they were needed to tick the boxes for a coming of age movie.

I have seen this film several times over the years. It is the cast that makes it so entertaining. Sexy Kathryn and Sebastian are intriguing. Reese Wtherspoon is believable as sweet Annette. I am writing today (in 2024) because I find it annoying when film critic's give my favorite movies bad ratings. Also, there is a new series version that just came out, and the current characters are not as interesting -at all!

Provative,intriguing, exciting and the cast top rated. All 90s movies are the best. original scripts, good acting. Its supposed to be dark! its suppose to make up feel upset about how degenerate young people can be in the 1% that is entitled and ungrateful because mommy and daddy are not there to raise them just to send checks. No sequel or remake have been even close worth watching.

Absolute 90s Romantic Drama at its height. Good script, Good execution. Love the characters, Hate the characters. Root for the characters. Root against the characters. A whirlwind of emotions and morals that crash together and have you questioning what your decisions would or wouldn't be. Rewatch ability=8/10

A good mix of comedy, drama and some twists. The acting is good and the story holds throughout. The movie pushes some limits but doesn't go overboard. Overall, a good dark spin on cooking of age movies

This movie is the epitome of 90's edge. Tbh charismatic actors, entertaining plot, sweet revenge. It makes up for some (not all) of the chauvinism. I watched this every weekend for years with my girls. If you want to know what the 90's were like, throw it on.

While it's not without charm, Cruel Intentions is not an enjoyable film. The characters are irredeemably unlikable, and the story lacks a moral. After hearing and reading so much about it, I expected it to be far more revolutionary than a scandalous teen drama.

Roger Kumble's attempt to modernize "Les Liaisons Dangereuse" provides a lewd, lascivious and downright cruel story. As summer draws to a close wealthy aristocrat Kathryn Mertueil (Sarah Michelle Gellar) makes a bet with her stepbrother Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Philippe) that if he can seduce and corrupt the new headmaster's daughter before school starts she'll have sex with him, if he loses she gets his most prized possession; his vintage Jaguar car. But, Sebastian finds himself genuinely falling in love with dangerous consequences. Phenomenal performances from Gellar, Philippe, Resse Witherspoon and Selma Blair. "Cruel Intentions" takes everything we love about the 90s teen films and twists it to a degree that it's still charming but dark.

A brilliant film nicely produced and highly entertaining. It will keep you glued to the screen with it's wit, humor and nicely done screenplay. The cinematography is amazing. Keep in mind this movie was made when we were all young. Highly recommended.

Definitely not Close and Malcovich not the best version but works for teenagers.

I am so glad the Ryan Phillippe experience was relatively short lived, he is so awful in this. I just struggled to find anything that pulled me in with the plot or characters, most are insufferable and show no consistency.
