Da 5 Bloods Reviews
An other Nam-movie, that tries to be not conventional.
Great film. Don't know how you couldn't like this. Action, drama, history, adventure, comedy. Implemented seemlessly
Is it a comedy? A drama? A mess? All of the above. I watched the film and was completely confused about what the plot was so I just reread the Wikipedia summary of the film and now I am more confused than ever. Spike Lee tries to pack so much into his films that they can be hard to follow. (I'm still trying to decide whether Mookie in "Do The Right Thing" started the riot intentionally or saved Sal's life by smashing the window so the crowd would attack the pizzeria instead of Sal.)
struggled to watch and I love Spike lee movies
It's definitely not for everyone and it does miss a few important movie beats. But 'Da 5 Bloods' is still an excellent film with great performances and tense moments.
Is this an important movie and did this movies story need to be told - 100%. Was this movie for me, no, not really. I enjoyed parts of it and the sum of the parts worked but some of those parts felt like they took away from the flow of the movie to preach to you instead of letting the story do the preaching. I think Spike Lee is a fantastic director and Delroy Lindo gave a masterful performance but the first half of the movie dragged a bit and the preaching took away from the flow and so it felt longer but that last hour or so were fantastic
It was a good story but I don't think spike lee realized what he did to my dad when we watched that,my dad is a social worker he works down town cincinnati and when my dad saw that stilled image of that dead kid in the middle of the movie it effected my dad's ptsd the ironic thing is that the movie had topics of Ptsd but spike lee didn't consider what his viewers have went through, also want to point out that he didn't worn us there where going to be that kinda imagery because it made me stop watching the movie because it made me disturbed and lost interest in the story and it made my dad upset because he experienced something so similar
Great topic and concept and actors were elite. Characters development were lacking, and the plot and dialogues were subpar to abysmal. I'm a fan of Spike Lee but this is one of his worst works.
Worst written, worst acted movie I have seen in years.
dont believe the hype, so bad
Spike Lee manages to bring on the Vietnam War with a new clandestine style! Five former soldiers-in-arms return to Vietnam to find the body of their deceased captain and a treasure in gold, only to be pursued by greedy mercenaries. Intense, emotional and empowered, this is a hard look at the remains of war and how we are constantly trying to come to terms with the past!
Another awful offering from the equally awful spike Lee.. awful acting awful plot awful delivery..of course so called critics love it, they're afraid not to
One of Lee's great talents is his ability to move with ease between different genres, sometimes even in the same movie. Delroy Lindo gives a towering performance here. He's always been great but Lee affords him the perfect vehicle for his considerable talents.
I don't know anyone who would like this movie
Absolutely the worst film I've ever seen, confoundingly bad...
66%. 10/9/23. Had some good moments and action when they're in Vietnam. Film was very focused on the dialogue, some of which was pretty painful. Ending sucked how they all went back to find their friend and they find him and the gold but all die in the end. Glad I saw this but wouldn't rewatch.
What a waste talent! Sooo disappointed considering the cast and the director! When Norm Lewis's pigeon toed character, which incidentally could have been portrayed by any very average supporting actor. When he predictably stood on the land mine I kind of died inside! But when shortly afterwards the mine clearing dudes suddenly appeared in the middle of the Vietnamese jungle, I really did fear I would die! I lunged for the 온라인카지노추천 remote, and OFF it went! A life saving lunge! What utter garbage!
This was one of the most disjointed, poorly written movies I've ever seen. So unbelievably bad, and I had super high hopes for it. I'm not sure how you take the cast if incredible actors and make them bad at acting but they pulled it off. Don't waste your time.
Spike Lee directs a great story with some great historic features. Visually the film looks great and the storytelling is mostly very good but both the use of flashbacks and the theme development (love and interpersonal relationship) were a no for me. The timing in the movie could also improve, because it drags in some instances. This movie deserves some better French perfomances.
The way this movie demonstrates the US government's abuse of black people in Vietnam is heartbreaking, and how 4 veteran friends got back together in that place just to collect their reward is undeniably beautiful.
