Dawn of the Dead Reviews
I remember loving this movie when it came out. The fast zombies gimmick was still relatively new and fresh, and the gore and high-intensity action sequences were great. Before rewatching it tonight for the first time in over 20 years, I found myself wondering if it would still hold up today. After watching it, I can confidently say—mostly. The action is still solid, with some truly thrilling chase sequences, and it still feels as intense as ever, but some of the film's sensibilities feel a bit dated now. Like a lot of horror films at the time, the movie gets to the action almost right away to grab the audience's attention. The downside is that, in order for there to be any plot or character development whatsoever, the pacing has to slow way down at some point. So, like many horror films of the 2000s, this movie drags a bit in the middle. Furthermore, the rich characterizations and realistic acting we’ve grown accustomed to over the last two decades are largely absent here. Instead, the film features slightly over-the-top performances and relatively hollow characters. That said, there's still a lot to appreciate about the film. It's pulpy and a bit silly, but aside from a slightly dull second act, it's still highly engaging and loads of fun. All in all, it's a solid action-horror film that has largely, if not completely, stood the test of time.
Um dos melhores filmes do gênero e tão influente quanto sua primeira versão
It's great.....I think it's right behind World War Z
It was ok, but not the best zombie movie.
The only character worth speaking about in this movie is the one that Ving Rhames plays. The rest of the actors make it a total fucking snore fest .
While it completely misunderstands the original film and replaces the smart writing and commentary with cool shots and edgy scenes (a running characteristic of the director), I can't help but enjoy Dawn of the Dead (2004). It's still a very fun watch.
Gritty, intense and comical, this is a top-tier remake and potentially Zack Snyder’s best film!
Such a fantastic movie. Great cast, incredible action and a rollercoaster of a plot. A must see for all horror buffs.
Dawn of the Dead remake is a remake of a classic well-worth watching. It takes the idea of the original and makes something new and interesting in its own right.
Entre mi grupo de fans de películas zombies, siempre está arriba en el top o dentro del top
Easily my favorite zombie movie.
So great. I was delighted to see the original again after all these years. Romero created the genre, and it's a perfectly giddy ride of headshots, pillaging, and desperate survival.
A fresh new take on a classic. Although dated now in 2024, it still holds up as a modern day telling of Romero's classic. It's a compelling movie that keeps you on your feet with a colorful cast of characters with distinctive personalities. Still a dreadful delight and a strong contender in the zombie movie genre.
Awesome Zombie flick! #Classic
An enjoyable Zombie film.
The best zombie movie ever made. Others may be ranked higher, but they're so old now that the makeup and visual effects do not hold up. I have wanted a sequel or something similar to this for years now.
I think this is the most logical zombie movie that I've watched.
