Death Sentence Reviews
It’s not winning any awards but this movie kicks ass!!!!!!!
The shaky camera footage, cheesy “action” and both predictable and random plot made it more funny than anything. I was actually impressed with how bad the soundtrack was, mainly consisting of just some lady harmonizing. Pretty sure they play this in film school as an example of how not to make a movie.
This site is a total joke. Never trust the Tomatometer. Death sentence is one of the best revenge movies of all time. Iconic, brutal, emotional, Kevin Bacon at the top of his game.
Super underrated movie. It's not like the best but it's good enough that I've seen it many times over. There are some ridiculous choices they made in the gangster characters, tribal tattoos, muscle cars and long leather jackets, sound like gangsters? I think not, still a good flick
Fkn a$shole "critics" gave it 20% = must be an excellent movie! And it is! If you like revenge against low lives enabled by the shitty left = social-democrats, you're in for a treat!
I know this movie has some age on it but I still have to give my input. One of the most action packed, edge of your seat entertainment movies you can watch! Another great movie starring Kevin Bacon!
I really enjoyed this movie. I love the soundtrack in particular but I always liked Kevin Bacon. I know this movie gets a terrible rap. Okay, the storyline is fabled and possibly worn out now but I don't see the problem with a modern take on death wish. That's basically what it is. Yes, it's predictable but it really works. The bad dudes are proper horrible gits. John Goodman is a real piece of work. Gareth Hedlund the same. I think that a lot of the negative reviews are from fantasists who need a clever script in any film before it giving any credit whatsoever. Just overthinking it really. Yes, this film is pretty route one in it's execution but I really like it.
A dark depressing unexciting mess of a film that's action fails to engage.
Emotional movie and i think any father would do that .
Movie was great but that detective needed to die right after the hospital scene it got me real mad..
RT critics score is far too low. Great action, camera work and acting.
This is actually a pretty good movie. I thought it was going to be cheesey, but it's actually interesting. Kevin bacon does a really good job in a role he usually doesn't do.
Dull, depressing, overblown with gratuitous violence Kevin bacon looked like he did not want to be in this pierce of crap
Love this movie Kevin Bacon was excellent the who cast is excellent, two thumbs way up...
Nick Hume is your everyday family man, the career, the gorgeous wife, the beautiful home, and two teenage boys whose futures look bright on the horizon. After another great sports event for his oldest with a successful professional hockey dream in his sights. While driving home through some of the worst parts of the city Nick and his boy stop at an unassuming small gas station. Little do they know this was the location on this night for a deadly gang initiation game. While pumping his gas, Nick's son heads inside for a victory slushy when Billy Darley's gang quickly arrives and the teen is the target, unable to move fast enough a father is bear witness to his son's brutal murder. That moment would show to change Nick on the deepest level and the man was never right again. Discarded by an unjust judicial system, the man who committed this act is set free. This careens this father down a path of destruction and death which makes ‘an eye for an eye' an unending cycle as violence almost always begets more violence and Nick is taking on the gang on his own terms vowing to kill every last member involved by his own hand. Now that turning back is not an option the man juggles his vengeful obsession with protecting his family. A juggle that could prove to break the strongest of men.
For me this movie is a serious sleeper. I have no clue why the "critics" didn't like it. A rich, white collar Father watches his oldest son die in a random gang initiation, and rather than let it go, and mourn, he does what any real Father would do. It's a well acted, even romantic in many ways, story of pure, unadulterated revenge, and the very somber consequences that can come from seeking revenge like this. It's a powerful movie that I really enjoy.
I knew we were in trouble with this movie when Bacon fails to use his flip phone to call 911 for his son not long after he used the phone to call his wife. Absolutely one of the worse revenge movies ever made. A shame Bacon had to shave his head for this role and waste the talents of everyone else involved, especially John Goodman.
un muy buen film de venganza!
From James Wan, the director of Saw (2004), comes a very enjoyable vigilante movie. I honestly am having a hard time understanding why this film was a box office failure, because it's got quite a few things to offer. A very well and profoundly written script, and a surprisingly well developed lead character, played by Kevin Bacon. He's really good in this role of a grizzled man eaten by grief. And there's even a pleasant appearance by John Goodman. Death Sentence also offers some very sad and dramatic moments, as well as some strong suspense. This film has a certain vigilante power to it. And let's forget that it also offers a good amount of brutal, over-the-top and explosive buckets of enjoyable gore. It's one of the best vigilante/crime pics of the 2000s, and overall, this is a very entertaining and violent watch. Good movie and recommended!!
