Standard fair revenge story. Acting is good and the action also. Not a very convincing script. It held my attention

This is a decent movie with a good pace and realistic story. He was definatwly lucky at time but he did get shot a few time and it was never out of the range of what a regular guy could acomplish with some determination.

(ENGLISH) When you know Eli Roth is behind a movie, especially one like Death Wish, you expect a festival of blood, brutality, and chaos. However, this modern version of the Charles Bronson classic falls somewhere in the middle: there are violent moments, sure, but it feels like Roth held back more than expected, maybe to avoid stirring too much controversy.
The story is very straightforward, as you'd imagine. Bruce Willis plays a surgeon who, after a family tragedy, decides to take justice into his own hands. No surprises, no particularly clever twists... but the movie doesn't get boring. In fact, it flies by. The pacing is good, and while the script could have made better use of its premise (or gone full savage), it manages to entertain without feeling heavy.
That said, it's still a bit of a controversial product. Some will see it as a dangerous glorification of guns and vigilante justice, something that feels a bit off these days. And, of course, don’t expect Bruce Willis at his best: he shows up, shoots the bad guys with his usual deadpan look, and that's about it.
In short, the 2018 Death Wish works as quick entertainment but could have been so much more. A remake that aims for brutality but ends up being just a blank shot.

Without having seen the original, this is the only Death Wish for me. It's a realistic depiction of the lengths someone will go to protect/avenge their family. While the action scenes are brief, they're well-executed. Bruce Willis's staunch performance grounds the film without letting it get over-the-top. This is a solid vigilante action thriller.

Although the remake certainly lacks the gritty charm of the original and the soundtrack choice is questionable at best, Death Wish still remains a satisfying vigilante action thriller.

Wasnt sure if this film would hit or not because most down and dirty violent remakes from 70s films are often watered down and lacking and this one fits that bill, even with torture loving Eli Roth at the helm directing his film falls flat. Im a bigger fan of Eli Roth then his decision to cast Bruce Willis in Charles Bronsons part. That is probably my biggest issue with this film is his flat and almost boring portrayal of Bronsons character that wished death on as many scum bags before he went put himself as possible...hence the title. Willis doesnt bring that here. Its more about vengance for the act itself and im not certain the film should be about the act itself rather then the characters unraveling into a place where he doesnt care if he lives or dies and just wants ti take as many low lifes as possible with him...I cant say id recommend this film but I cant say stay away either. Vincent D'Onofrio is the gem as the leads brother. It seems hes great in everything he does. If you liked the original its worth a watch just to appreciate the original even more.
