Disenchanted Reviews
If only Disenchanted had pushed the envelope more, we would have been truly spellbound rather than just mildly bewitched.

Count me shocked that Disenchanted is actually good… I adore the first enchanted but nothing was making me too excited for the sequel… but it was fun. The actors step back into the roles & the script is flipped into a fun way! Magic is there

The narrative of Disenchanted functions on so many levels that it’s impressive. Giselle’s reliance on fantasy speaks to the very human trait of dissociation with reality as soon as it becomes too difficult to deal with it.

The conundrum with sequels: Is it better to risk tarnishing a beloved original in order to make more money? In this case, maybe not. I'm afraid the title sums it up pretty well.
| Original Score: 3/10 | Jan 25, 2023
Another completely forgettable film for Disney Plus and not worthy of the original

Be prepared to be sorely disappointed by this straight-to-Disney+ sequel in which instead of popping out of a manhole, Giselle - Amy Adams’ cartoon character come to life - is swept into a sewer of bad writing and overly busy direction.

Disenchanted didn’t have to be this way.

Disenchanted starts with promise but largely drops those interesting threads when the over-the-top action really kicks off.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Dec 10, 2022
The abundant charm that elevated "Enchanted" to the status of a minor Disney classic has been excised from this sequel
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Dec 8, 2022
There was no emotional gravitas, with focus only on the action, comedy, and build-up. It wasn’t the sequel that we wanted, but it’s there. In the end, it’s just one of those films you could watch if you’re babysitting.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 1, 2022
Disenchanted probably isn’t quite as strong as its predecessor, but is a worthy follow-up, and it’s certainly fun to catch up with these characters and go on another adventure with them.
| Original Score: 7.5/10 | Nov 30, 2022
Though the film does manage to wrangle most of the cast and creative team from the original, there simply isn’t enough magic in Disenchanted to rekindle (or even come near) the joyous charm of the first film.

By premiering it on Disney+, Disenchanted will surely become one of the most streamed films of the year but will quickly be forgotten.
| Original Score: 6/10 | Nov 29, 2022
Disney+ streaming exclusives = straight-to-video trash. The trend continues with Disenchanted.

It's the hilarious song battle between Adams and Maya Rudolph's local busybody that is this film's pièce de résistance.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Nov 28, 2022
Featuring another tour-de-force performance by Adams, starring as the charming ingenue turned wicked stepmother, this sequel will please fans.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Nov 28, 2022
While having some good songs, it entirely neglects to remember that it was once a goof on the very princess tropes that it is now embracing making it feel like just another forgettable animated sequel
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Nov 28, 2022
The characters may still be amusing, even after 15 years, but the script can’t justify another feature-length outing (quite a bit like “Hocus Pocus 2,” also from this year).
| Original Score: 4/10 | Nov 28, 2022
Too little too late with this uninspired, forced, and over-FXed sequel.
| Original Score: 1/4 | Nov 26, 2022
It all just feels a little too forced.
