Disney nature knows how to make really good documentaries.

I loved this film!!!!! FIVE STARS! The documentary Bears follows a family of bears in the Alaskan wilderness. The story begins with incredible footage of the cubs being born. I had no idea cubs were so small the first few days of life, they almost looked like little puppies. In my opinion, Disneynature did an exceptional job at really showing its viewers the true battles certain species face in order to survive. Following the birth of mother bear Sky's cubs, she begins her tedious journey across miles and miles of deep snow, passing through dangerous avalanches and avoiding potential enemies. It amazed me to watch the cubs follow momma bear so intently and really loved watching the two cubs blossom into two such different personalities. Male cub Scout had a far more independent and adventurous attitude, whereas his sister had a tendency to stick close to mom and avoid as much danger as possible. The relationships were very strong between this family and the close-nit unit is what kept them alive in certain situations. No matter the challenge this little family of three were faced with, momma bear was always there to protect the cubs from danger. It was made clear from the beginning that the voyage up and down the mountains were in efforts to reach fresh water, where they had access to the seemingly everlasting food bank. Although there was a surplus of salmon for all to enjoy, the bears still broke into fights over the silliest of things. What was really interesting was seeing the behavior die down after bellies were full and competition subsided. Even the worst of enemies were seen hanging out side by side. It amazed me to see such close-up shots of such incredible animals. This documentary does an amazing job at really showing what the first life of a cub and mother bear can look like.

Although Disneynature's Bears falls into the template of many other animal documentaries that we have seen over the years, its gorgeous cinematography, clever narration and undeniable cuteness make for a very entertaining journey with mama bear and her cubs.

Funny hart warming and eye opening

As is the case with all these Disneynature films, the forced, anthropomorphize-d elements are occasionally distracting (though they seem to really work for the kids), but the images and spectacle are undeniable.

It started really well but the story is dragged out just to get some amazing shots. The shots are stunning doh.

Educational nature documentary for all ages.

My introduction to the Disney-Nature series. I've always enjoyed nature documentaries & this was no exception - although truth be told I've never been that fascinated by bears (yawn). It goes without saying the visuals are spectacular & in terms of the narration - no one beats Attenborough but Reilly did a fair enough job.

Good, but would have been better without the distraction that is John C Reilly.

Disney Nature's latest documentary is charming, heartwarming, and visually pleasant. Bears just might be the best of its predecessors.

A beautiful movie about one year cycle in mother bear and her cubs life. Though not too much of scientific facts on animal life, the camera work and the scenery is breathtaking. The commentary is in Disney spirit - funny and appealing to all ages. Adorable!

What can I say, one of the most amazing documentaries I've seen, it was a very good movie about bears and nature, this was very well done.

An adorable documentary shot in the pristine natural environment of Alaska. Beautiful, funny and thought-provoking. I usually don't watch the bonus features included in the DVD, but I watched every single one of them for this one. This is a movie for the entire family.

kinda ok...a bit boring. Pretty much that same stuff you can see on Discovery channel / Planet Earth. Only worth watching if you're into nature shows /animal behaviour.

A mom and her three cubs' life journey. One of the latest Disneynature's documentary ventures. There's nothing wrong to call it a grizzly version of 'To the Arctic'. Because both films are about the mother bears and their new born cubs' first year of survival in the wilderness, but the differences are the fur and habitat. Shot in Alaskan coast side, the film crew followed the bear family for one circle of a year's season to capture the beginning of the life journey of newborn cubs with their mother. Like the Disney films famous for fairy tales and children friendly, Disneynature films as well not too far behind. Their films are not like we watch on Animal planet and Nationa Geography, the uncut and harsh version of animals' survival in the jungle. But a cute and enjoyable little epic tale. This film was narrated by our own jolly fellow John C. Reilly. Some of his lines were too good for kids and family, I mean comical. Like other Disneynature films is a must see for children. Hope along with kids, the adult would have a nice time. 8/10

While some of John C. Reilly's narrative dialog got pretty bad from time to time, it was still very interesting and fun to watch to journey of these family of bears. It is beautifully shot from a very ballsy camera crew.

This is a great watch for almost anyone really. Young or old, almost all audiences will enjoy this movie. It's visually safe enough for children, yet not a bore for adults. Recommended to everyone, it's worth a watch.
