Earth to Echo Reviews
Earth to Echo, it’s not that I’m mad at you, I’m just disappointed. Or is that just worse to say?
| Original Score: C | Aug 19, 2024
From start to finish, Earth to Echo wants to jog our memories about the unforgettable experiences we have experienced with our best friends.

Amiable but not terribly exciting. It has a distinct direct-to-video vibe, despite at least one eye-popping sequence of a truck being dismantled and reassembled.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Feb 1, 2021
While the child actors all give admirable performances, the dialogue and plot fail to capture the creativity and suspense their predicament promises.
| Original Score: 2/10 | Dec 4, 2020
Has a feel to it of a retro-styled Disney flick.
| Original Score: 2.5/4.0 | Sep 7, 2020
The film's strongest point, however, are the engaging performances from the young cast of relative unknowns.

[I]f you want a moving account of kids coming-of-age with an SFF twist, you'd be better off just screening The Goonies or E.T. at home.

There are so many, well, I'll be charitable and call them 'homages' to 80s movies that I stopped counting. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, except for the fact that once referenced, it was hard not to compare those movies to yours
| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 11, 2018
It's all well and good to say that the actors are relatively new to the field, but when the film rests entirely on their shoulders, it's simply not enough for their acting and camaraderie to be at best passable.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Aug 13, 2018
If you aren't concerned with the E.T. comparisons and are just looking for something to see at the theater with all the kids, "Earth to Echo" will do the job a lot better than most of today's nonanimated options.

Earth to Echo will appeal to the nostalgia of older kids who appreciate a good coming-of-age romp, parents looking for movies that eschew most of the usual stereotypes of teens on film, and the average YouTuber and tween.

Whenever Echo is sticking to the kids and their camaraderie, it mostly works as intended.
| Original Score: C+ | Mar 26, 2016
Clichd and predictable it may all be, there is no denying the infectious quality of pure optimism.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Apr 2, 2015
The mildewed found-footage technique allows some tension to build from offscreen action, but also renders the knockoff John Williams score inexplicable.

Sad to say it is not even this generation's 'Short Circuit.' Families deserve much better entertainment at the movie theater, summer or otherwise.
| Original Score: C- | Aug 29, 2014
All in all, "Earth to Echo" is passable family entertainment, neither unforgettable nor particularly bad.
| Original Score: C+ | Aug 23, 2014
It has a good young cast, some occasionally dazzling special effects and a message that even when growing friends grow move apart it's not the end of their own little world.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Aug 8, 2014
Earth to Echo won't wallop young viewers, but I wouldn't be surprised if kids who catch this at the right age are utterly captivated.
| Aug 8, 2014
A Spielbergian adventure flick targeted at tweens who tweet, this is an intermittently interesting tale about three kids who, mainly, discover that technology is even more really, really awesome and cool than any of us earthlings ever thought.

Audiences who like to imagine that they could make a better film themselves may well, in this instance, be correct.
