End of Watch Reviews
this was a great movie. Up until the end of the movie where these writers KILLED NOT ONE. BUT BOTH OFFICERS THEN CUT TO THE FUNERAL.. AND ONLY ONE OF THEM LIVES????? absolutely not. I will be calling Jake Gyllenhaal to re-shoot the ending. This is absurd. I am a very angry viewer. Great movie … I had a wonderful time watching … up UNTIL ONE OF YOU PEOPLE KILLED ONE OF THE OFFICERS. I WILL BE CALLING CORPORATE. Whoever wrote the beginning, and middle of the movie though…. Chefs kiss. I hope your pillow is cold on both sides. Whoever thought of the ending I will absolutely be throwing physical rotten tomatoes at your doorstep until this movie is reshot with a different ending.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña have chemistry, and the film capitalizes on building a realistic relationship between them, which makes the action even more captivating. Also, the use of handheld footage (a lot of it actually shot by Gyllenhaal himself) is quite immersive. On the downside, Ayer gives carte blanche to his heroes to do anything: even when brutalizing African American and Hispanic civilians completely unprovoked, it's somehow fine because they all turn out to be criminals anyway.
Such an excellent movie. Similar to the 온라인카지노추천 series Southlands. Must see!
This is an amazing movie that kept me on the edge and also a great reality check of what these heroes go through. 10/10
Loved the cinematography. Fast paced, riveting, emotional, and good story
Damn for a POV cop movie..,,that was top-notch ✌🏾
Fairly straightforward cop drama but well directed. The acting by Gyllenhaal and Pena was the real strength of the movie.
You have to love even these “pro-critics” have to praise a cop action/drama but sneak in little shots at the movie because they can’t completely love something or they wouldn’t be respected by other critics or people who just don’t like cops. This movie is as real as it can possibly get from Hollywood. Take it from someone who comes from a long line of family on the job in three cities including yours truly. This movie goes above and beyond trying to show the things that most people don’t know and don’t want to know about law enforcement. They are often good men and women. They put their lives at risk every time they put on that uniform and even when they don’t. They don’t have the choice to run and they are doing it to protect and serve. This movie is well worth your time and if you miss it then you have truly missed something special.
an unintentionally good (if a bit silly) copaganda film, despite the genre being pretty awful. i'm not usually a huge fan of michael pena, but he does a great job here and keeps a straight face as much as is needed for the subject matter. david harbour also does a decent job but i wouldnt have remembered who he was without stranger things, and gyllenhaal puts on a dedicated performance per usual. the ending could have amounted to a little more, and a lot of this last sequence with the huge parade of cop cars felt pro LAPD instead of pro justice. without spoilers, i will say that the movie would be immensely better if it simply ended in that alleyway.
Typical Ayer hood movie, CLICHE city and severe, bad overacting by the gangsters as all of his street movies, really bad, but its overall an entertaining watch
The way this movie was shot is a game changer! Great acting, directing and storyline. Had a fantastic mix of action, laughs and tears.
Amazing film. Loved the camera work, very different.
The two leads in this movie are perfect. I really bought that they were police officers and real life friends. This movie has some really intense moments that leave you on the edge of your seat. Out of all the police movies I’ve seen this one is the best
Over halfway through the movie, I was still wondering what the movie was about, after that point on the movie was sorta understandable but still confusing as to what was happening.
THE BEST cop movie ever and probably one of the most realistic. The end always has me borderline crying
Pretty straight forward movie with clear relationships and stakes at risk 24/7. Jake G. is a best of a main character.
I don't usually do reviews of movies, but from my perspective I felt I needed to do a review of End of Watch. It has a very human touch, not much like the big movies of our times, it makes you feel, and sympathise with the characters. It is a slow boil at the start, but it is really quite good! I definitively recommend viewing it. Music was also good.
A fairly standard cop movie which 'found footage' angle falls apart within a minute of being introduced, End of Watch does have plenty of heart thanks to its human characters, and a couple of edge-of-your-seat scenes where the questionable cinematographic choices finally pay off. Not exactly a classic, but worth watching at least once if not for the performances alone.
I would've liked it a lot better without the whole actor filming it subplot. It takes a while to pick up speed but when it does, you'll be glad you stuck with it. Ayers fan.
